Don't ever do anything for anyone's approval. You will never be able to please everybody. The secret is to do what makes you happy and satisfied. Like you said, maybe your attitude is holding you back. Not just from appealing to "publishers", but from creating the work that you truly want to create?
Your lack of confidence and hunger for approval from publishers is your poison. It's like the saying goes: People will only see you, the way you see yourself.
You are obviously skilled. But talent is only accomplished from within. Stay true to yourself first, and success will follow.
