See ya soon, my friend.
Oh you'll get my all. My brain is running in too many directions right now, though, and most of them are towards ARENA.NET and my dead pc. (::sigh:
The airbrush experiment made me all gooey. The rest is just pure experimental eye candy. Hot tuff. Can't wait to see what you throw down in the 'dome!!
Oh, uhm, bitch.
(Had to trashtalk in there somewhere)
Thanks for showing me the importance of value...conclusion: it's bloody important! Great job!
whoooa! nice show dude, crazy output. The orange and pink kanigit is fucking dope. up and up!
Heh, course it is! But i'm worried what all this praise might be doing to you. Have we created some kind of monster??Originally Posted by Idiot Apathy@

@DieOxin: Ha! Glad that was in good humor...
@Alday. HA! Julien, does fellah know?! Meow! The cat was fun, focused on the motion/energy like you said. I really need to learn how to draw now, feeling ... cramped up with just paint.
@Luxun: Thank ya!
@BDFoster: Hahahaha! Nice trashtalk. Good ole arena.net, maybe we can tag team him... heheh. See you in the ring mate.
@Ham-e: Bloody bloody important, I've said it before but I think value is the most important as far as readability. Color is comprised of value hue and saturation, if you break it down like that ... it's almost obvious.
@eazym: HA! Thanks.
@Rottendegenerate: Crazy huh? I was just looking at the first few pages, hard to believe this book started in November.
@Cotron: Means a lot coming from you dude. Kanigit! I wonder if you saw the title or just decided to call it that. Cheers man.
@mull77: hahaha, monster... maybe. But this book has been a large part of my progress. Before this my studies were even quicker and even less refined/coherent. I didn't even save a lot of them. Anyways, having a sketchbook has been invaluable to me. Pretty much 99.9% of all brushes I use are from my buddy Bumskee. He's posted them in his SB and the Digital Painting in PS thread. Definetly check them out.

Come on, you know ZhuZhu. Bunch of his stuff here... photoalbum?

More warm ups and cool downs, getting funky... must ... learn to draw.
Fat monster, squish!
Fat colored monster, squash! Quicky color, must focus on other things...
More quicky colors, focus is elssssewhere.
Now for a bunch of wierd... wierd thumbs - random junk
Technique scribble ... bleh
More wierd technique thinly veiled as an enviroment... bleh
That's how I feel right now... Must learn draw!
AIEEE! My eyes. bleh
Thunder Thighs ... unfinished crap! bleh
From ref.. obviously.
Getting a little bit of artists block, don't feel like landscapes right now.
So doing something from ref is the obvious path.
Should have spent more time on the shape... bleh.
See you tomorrow, ... maybe.
Heya Tom !
Yeah, Fellah know. He allready ask me to marry him ! As a running gag, of course ! [and my tiny heart bleed each time, snif !]
Your update looks like you try things in a different way than usual [in my opinion]... That's a good thing. I really like the renders of the eye. What "bleh" mean ? Sounds like your unhappy about your stuff ? Can't wait to see the next update, Tom.
that's some pretty damn cool stuff, I really like the scenery, but the robot with the rabbit head thing is really cool, that might make a sweet tattoo too
keep it up
really diggin this thread man. Keep it up. Now i need to go crack open photoshop and learn to paint better. Nice use of texture in your paintings
Yo man good work. quote:" That's how I feel right now... Must learn draw!" don't worry I was feeling like that very recently. imho the important thing is to just keep producing and stay possitive. Cheers PS: "Junk and Crap!" you have alot of people telling you your work is good so start believing it!
@Rodrigo: And you my friend, remind me I need to buy some pencils, and paper... and erasers. Cheers dude.
@Alday: Haha, thanks! I'm really trying to experiment more and more, as you'll see with this new update too... bleh! Bleh is the sound you'd make when you have a bad taste in your mouth. I think I have a little bit of the artists depression going on right now, a slump. I'll explain that down below too. Thanks for always checking up on me dude! Means a lot. P.s. you know fellah is a dude right?
@Asoir: Thanks dude! I'll try not to dissapoint. Cheers.
@smrtbob: Haha, the rabbit? That's back on page one isn't it? Lol... I don't think I'd want that as a tattoo though... I mean how do you explain that to someone? Anyways, thanks dude! Stay tuned.
@Vances22: Thank you mate! Crack anything open and start painting, photoshop is just a tool like any other really. Maybe it's the best digital, I don't know - but I learned many things in Painter that I don't think I could have in PS.
@MattGamer: Yeah! Figured I'd share some of my inspiration with all of you! Cheers dude, go do some doo.
@Ham-e: Haha, thanks for the encouragement mate; you're absolutely right by the way - it's all about attitude and commitment, I just feel in a bit of a slump right now is all . The Junk and CRAP! Headline was just for giggles, but I'm about to post some junk and crap that should clear up any misconceptions that I'm any good .

Art Renewal Center
Do yourself a favor and spend time here, look at the masters - just one a day or something maybe. Start with Jean Leon Gerome perhaps? (If you are lost click the museum tab). This site has soooo much, you can lose days in here - trust me!
I'm sure many of you know Prometheus|ANJ, and hopefully most of you have seen his brillant art tutorial from his site. This guy is one of my major influences since the beginning. Cheers to Niklas! Thanks mate!

Been in a little bit of an artists depression sort of mood lately - probably better known as a slump? I know I could hammer out some souless enviroments that would probably look cool, but I wouldn't learn much from them right now. Switching to Photoshop gave me a temporary high and a good boost from all the new things to try out and to learn, but I need something different right now. I've been trying to understand line/drawing more, something that has always eluded me - something I find incredibly hard to teach myself and as such have avoided practicing for the most part. I really just need to get started and roll with it. Below you'll see some attempts, some crappy and some really crappy - but I've learned a great deal in fact, line is such a foreign language to me right now but I think I'm starting to pick up on it. Hmm, seems so melodramatic I know - it's not really though I'm having fun
I need to get back into school ...
Lots of scribbles in here too, hehehe.
'spose I'll go chronological here.
A few things clicked here with drawing, what I needed to do with line.
I stopped trying to paint with line and describe form only with line.
No construction lines and virtually no painting out on this one -
which I thought was wierd...
I think it's more about having it all pictured in your head
and then translating that perhaps?
hehe, started with abstracty lines/forms - made it into a naughty demon.
Seriously I have no idea.
Quick scribble, why am I showing this? hmm... no idea.
Stupid quick scribble - really no clue why I'm showing this one, just kind of funny is all.
Dude even has a hula girl on his dash!
These last two were pretty late at night I think.
Very quick and messy... and dumb
Another in the dumb series haha.
Thinking more about what drawing is...
Little bit of time spent on this one. Check out those crummy thumbs!
Perhaps a crummy vision of things to come? More bots from me once I understand line mmm?
Just a stupid form practice... turned out to be just that sort of pose... so ...
I had to... sorry.
armor for the arm? Dunno...
Less drawing like, just scribbles inbetween doing things.
Fat monster makes his return.
An arm? torso-y? Bleh
Strange late night scribble. Testing out some brush ideas.
Messed around a little bit, kind of missed the old way of doing things.
No sketch or plan at all here -
just throwing colors together until they made sense and went from there.
If it reminds you a little of my painter days you'd be right,
it's the sort of method I used then.
I dunno, 2 minute scribble haha... just liked the (energy?)
Bleh, some technique thoughts is all.
Crap on my desk - decided that when I'm in a slump I should do more from life and reference. Like how I gave up on the rim hahaha?
A nickel from my desk - quick and dirty.
Something I'm working on, the latest step in my "drawing" endeavor.
It's fun and it's a WIP! I don't do WIP's!
Yeah so, any help/crits and comments especially on the drawing is much appreciated!
Hey man, nice update as usual! I've been trying to figure out lines for some time now( they are very mysterious and elusive ) so good luck!
yo man, i like what i see. youre starting to understand line and form and all that, so cheers to you. just takes doing tons of it, so gambare! and good luck standing, man.
Yeah, experimenting is always a good thing, you never know what can happen and sometimes... You find something very cool. About the artist depression, it's something that we all feel from time to time buddy, so don't give up. About line stuff, the only thing I can told you is be energic. Energic lines carry a great mood in drawings... In my opinion. The update are fine but I prefer the second half to the first half. For their energy and great mood. Hum, sounds like I start to repeat myself. I need a coffee.
Cheers, Tom. [and thanks for the english lesson].
P.S:Really ? A dude ? You mean... With muscles, a beard and all the stuff ? Ok, I stop the jokes or Simon will kill me. cheers Tom.Originally Posted by Idiot Apathy

Hot Pants With Toast Flavoured Jam.
just thought I'd drop in to say hi. Don't be afraid of lines. My personal approach is to scribble down quite a few lines and then make the best ones darker. My work isn't as clean as you'd think from the finished images, I just do everything quite light first off. Don't get precious too early in the game. Does that make sense?
Hope that helps mate!
@Ham-e: hahaha, thanks for the encouragement
@Zutto: Thanks! Speaking of which, nice use of color in your avatar. Lets see some paints like that in your sketchbook yeah?
@purb36: Thanks! Good luck standing... hahah eek! Form with line is such a different language to me...
@Alday: Yeah thanks dude! I'm a long ways from actually thinking of giving up I know, the first half is really crummy, remember when I said I didn't know how to draw? It's true! I'm learning and I think it's good to show people I suck, you've all been far to nice lately haha!
@Rodrigo: Thanks dude! That's something I was discovering a little bit here, pretty neat stuff you can learn by messing around with line. I'm visualizing everything a little better now actually. Hey, you getting your basement ready?
@Form: Pancakes with honey flavored cucumber salads! I mean, thanks!
@Dave: Thanks buddy! Been great to see you back in action lately mate! I've been messing around with some ideas like the one you gave me, good shtuff mate. Thanks for the help, cheers!

Uhh, how are things? Hmm, not much to say right now. School starts up innnn like 5 days; got a nice and easy summer semester. One class ! hehehe, oil painting too. I'm so lucky .
I think I'm going to start posting the things I actually kind of like first, that way you only have to look at the first few images... ha ... ha.
Started out as a quick test on some video capture software.
Didn't really work... got some issues to work out before that's really viable.
Anyone down with seeing some things like this in action?
Anyways, started out b&w like usual.
Made a new brush that I really like for random shapes etc,
it's got me back in the mood for some landscapes etc.
Quickish color techniques and painting over. Fun!
Rarrrrrr! Quicky... mainly because my tablet cursor is shaking like crazy.
Seems to only happen... at some times... I dunno. Tried to figure it out..
Anyways, thinking about things like the ring around the moon there...
hard to explain, as I don't have it all figured out you know?
Uhh, scribble while testing out some of BaRONTiERi's brushes. Some cool stuff.
Bit of a different style for me, little more... designy maybe?
Ok the rest of the crap:
Another shnaaaake. Messing around with drawing again, sigh.
Strange color idea....
Quick crap to help test out this capture software I was talking about.
From ref, I should really do some angle checks on when I work from ref.
Bad shapes. REF
Meoooow! Also from ref. Same with angle checks and what not, bleh.
Learning some good drawing ideas though. REF
This is over a sketch of Form's. We were doing some wierd collab thing.
15minutes to sketch then send it off to the other, 15 more minutes.
Another robot? Crotchshot!
Nice stuff Tom, I quite like the fire guy thing you did with Barontieri's brushes, it could be an interesting avenue to go down...
I could now tell you which paintings I like but that would take me to long.
You have a great sketchbook. I'm often inspired when seeing your landscapes.
