great work... nice economy, weight.. keep it up!
great work... nice economy, weight.. keep it up!
thanks I know.. kinda mean looking me, huh But that was exactly as I was feeling yesterday night, since I had a whole f*** load of work to do and was so tired... so I decided on not doing the work, drawing an sp and falling asleep exhausted. Worked out quite well That hole... yeah.. strange light situation there.. tho that's the way I saw it (with my tired eyes). You just reminded me, that I still have to finish that dance of the dead II thing... damn more work
thank you for stopping by and your kind words
here's one I did during class today
yeah I know about the armpit Kinda off...
You're right, it shouldn't be work... but with all the stuff I have to do right know, drawings that HAVE to be finished are considered work and not fun
So here's some new stuff
from life, 3-5 min poses
from life, 15-20 min pose
(pretty neat approach my prof came up with: Our model posed for 3 minutes and we watched while doing the same pose. Then we had to draw what we remembered focusing on what we felt during that pose, i.e. pain in the shoulder area)
and an early WIP. Reason I'm posting this is that I might never finish it, since I've already spent too much time on it. It's not all that exciting since it's from photo ref, my way of facing my skintone (and lighting) problems. The image is cropped and the whole figure (including legs) is currently printable at 2 meters height with 150dpi... takes its time loading and saving Only the face is considered almost-finished
hope you like it

hey t.m0, nice painting of the girls face.
Don't know for sure but you could try to make the head a little bit bigger, the body looks a bit massive for a girl. And 150 dpi for a 2m poster? Wow. Perhaps you could paint at 75 dpi and scale it up when finished...
Thanks Nice to see you here in my thread. I know the body (as well as the hand) look a little bulky, but that's due to the fact, that I didn't stick to the pencil outlines when applying my basic colors. Once the body is finished, it'll appear smaller, so hopefully the proportions will work out then I did try it with the right fist and it worked. Thanks for pointing it out tho.
just a tiny update.. haven't found the time to continue with the girl.
another marker portrait... likeness sucks badly - with ref

Hi. u do many nice drawings and studies. I like the kid statue (page130.jpg), I think u should make his neck more visible
I need more practice. I speak poor english
- my sketchbook -
very very good. I like the clean lines that you make. Looks professional in your finished peices.
One thing I'd like to bring to your attention is your crosshatching. Your crosshatchings a little unorganized at times at it doesn't complement the contours of the faces or whatever you draw at times. Work on trying to really bring out the contours of the object and your work will excel.
"Do the best that you wanna do." -My personal quote.
Sketchbook Thread. Look at it, rate it, post and crit on it.
Good stuff in here.
The double page full of faces is awesome.
shame on me for drawing so damn little lately
Thank you. I know, the neck does look a bit short.. it was an ugly kid tho
Thanks, I really appreciate your kind words.
Thanks for your cc. You're right about the crosshatching... been kinda lazy with it, but I'll promise to change that Haven't done so in my next portrait(since it was drawn before I've read your post), but I've tried to in my self portrait today... hope I succeeded (at least a bit)
I need to draw more... dammit
all the faces!!! argh! real!!! =)
i like scratchy ink sketches, yay!
These are some of the best portraits I've ever seen. You're able to draw cartoons, realism, and fantasy all extremely well. Your celebrity portraits look just like the actors/actresses. Great work. Keep it going!
Thank you man, I'm really glad you think so With my portraits I'm still far from where I wanne be tho..
here's another SP from today. It really sucked, so I "messed" it up a bit The light parts, splattered with red, are cut out of the paper and the next page is shining through, except for the initial sketch (which sucked), no reference used.
next page (SP), sucks badly though... no likeness whatsoever

I refuse to think that your portraits suck! Keep it up.
And I really hope you finish your WIP. But I think the torso looks rather large. I cover the chest with my hand and the back looks fine and vice versa. But both of them together I think it's too big. IMO anyways.
Keep up the good work
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people saying how bad the own drawings are and thus fishing for compliments (utterly hate those!!). What I meant was, that my last SP sucks really badly when it comes to proportions (of my face) and likeness. Just wanted to make that clearOriginally Posted by SirRon
Thanks for your kind words though. I see what you mean about the body of my WIP (damn it)... maybe kind of late tho to change that... I'll see what I can do
so here's some more from today,
random doodeling during classes
portrait of one of my fellow students
Selfportrait... was supposed to be a quickie... ended up spending about 15-20 minutes on it though
c&c as always welcome
hey dude your stuff is looking nice though too.....
thanks for coming aroound at my thread...from the last potraits i like most the one guy with the hat...and your sp's look good too...so keep it up. i will have a closer look on this thread now.
by< the way where do you study? i'm studying design too. in ravensburg at the nice Bodensee! ( dude that sounds strange )
thanks man Glad you like her... if she were real I'd hook you guys up someday
thanks for stopping by as well I'm currently studying in Augsburg.. unfortunately drawing is pretty small here at my uni, kinda sucks, but hey so I gotta draw more in my spare time
here's one new thing... and it's NOT a portrait
here goes today's stuff:
random doodles during class... I know, way too many confusing lines :/
then my first 5 min SP... it really sucks, I "panicked" because of the small timespan and began scribbling like mad without any order... don't like it, so just a linked thumb
then I laid back a minute, thought about the whole rushing thing and began another 5 min quickie
and finally a quick bunch of.. selfportraits
these are looking good man. keep it up.
cool beans to you...my friend.
sKeTcHbOoK update page3 (scroll to the bottom of page)
