Here are some creature concepts i did for the Gnomon Challenge this month...
(these are reposted for previous reply)
You've got some skill with the pencil, I enjoyed this in particular http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...nemes/0216.jpg
My criticism is that you tend to leave unrendered white areas on planes which are perpendicular or almost perpendicular to each other, this is a clear example http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...nemes/0212.jpg
If you want to stick to that sort of style then pushing the darks near the lights will accentuate both shapes http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c213/bogdanne
it'll accentuate that sort of broken rhythm you've got going I think.
"Beliefs are rules for action"
"Knowledge is proven in action."
"It's use is it's meaning."
hey icey! like the creature designs...however just one small crit, they always have this really clean cut look from the background that really distracts...for example with the second picture (the slug looking monster) the big black (what i presume to be either slime or ink left by the monster..that made it much more believable...maybe try painting some mini background colours next time and add a dash of the colours on to the creature, that way it would make it much more realistic. just my 2 cents
Your graphite works just kicks my ass in so many ways. Inspires me to work on my shading... just a little.
this is my new favourite thing. Reminds me of Witkin's stuff
You know what you should be? An anatomist. Yeah
A small crit though, about your colour digi-creatures: A crisp brushstroke or 'outline' between the creature and its background could make or break an image. sometime the colour seem a little soft and mudde where they shouldn't be.
Aiight, thats about it. Keep up the awsome
armando - you are right! I'll be thinking about this in my next drawings! Thanks a lot for critiques.
paperX - i will! I just need to learn a lot more about painting and colour values to increase my realism.... Thank you!
bhanu - i don't know what WMA is, but i like the sound of rest! Thanks a lot!
bunny - thank you! I will try different things, see what works and what doesn't. About the anatomy part i keep saying myself what harvey dunn said - "in making a picture you should excite interest, not educate!" I think i'll go by his hand on this one

This last one... just WOW, I mean you really nailed the designs,
the rendering and building of form its awe inspiring, some times
I used to think that you over rendered some of your stuff,
but HELL, your are really nailing all those different materials
and soft surfaces.
MAYOR PROPS!! Your becoming one of my heroes !!
Excellent work. Your rendering skills are badass wicked!!!
Maybe you already answered this but what kind of pencil do you use? Thanks for posting and sorry for the bother
---:::the eye of the beholder:::---
i like the mirroring things you've been doing! kickass designs as well
