I have a traditional art background and I am trying to get my hands more into digital lately. Just got my Mac, and there are a few things I could use help with...
Monitors...The monitor I ordered was out of stock. What are your opinions on CRT vrs. LCD flat ? I would like the option to rotate the monitor vertically (portrait) since I work mostly in that format. I really would like to stay under $650 if possible, but I don't want to compromise quality (or me peepers.)
Painter 8 - This seems to be the drug of choice around here, and since I paint traditionally, this seems like the logical choice. Does anyone know of any good books and/or DVD's going through Painter 8? I don't think I'll have the time to take a class at this point, so I'll need to teach myself during odd hours.
Lastly - I recently got a design job doing layouts for the printed page. My skills are fair, but I would like to learn more. I have been using Photoshop and Illustrator for the layouts. Are there any good books/DVDs that really go through advanced design for print, etc. ?
jeeez...i don't know when to shuddup
thanks in advance!
