I am an Illustrator who is preparing to enter into a full-time job for a small game company as an artist/illustrator. I plan on posting my work here in hopes of getting some much needed feedback on where to direct my practice so that I can hit the ground running when I begin working at the company. From what I can tell, I'll be doing a lot of concept art. I'm going to be doing the cube test from drawingtosee.com, but I was wondering if you guys might have any other recommendations for exercises while I prepare for my job?
I already know that one thing I need to work on more is environmental and prop design. My focus has mostly been in character art and I need to be able to wear a lot of hats in the job I'm doing. It's going to be for hard sci-fi style games, so any leads on that would be good. I also am trying to develop a coherent style so that people won't be so confused when they visit my website.
I know I have a long ways to go before I can draw the way the ateliers draw, and that is something I really want to improve over time, but in the meantime, some short-term advice would be really appreciated.
Thank you very much.
