i've been lurking around in this forum for quite some time, though im only an occasional visitor.
So i'm an artist (unsatisified one cause im still not that good) who has been drawing for long - very long; and switched to digital since about 10yrs ago. I admit i did improve since my early digital work, so i can't complain about that - but im still hungry for better drawings.
My major hurdle in digital art is the process after the 'blocking' in of tones/color. I've seen many tutorials and most of which draw quickly the whole picture to have an idea of the tones and layout; then start all over again by adding details and more details on top of each other.
I know the principal, but somehow im not managing to put on (digital) canvas and its quite frustrating as i've been trying this out for years! yes years and i never actually managed to draw how I wish the end result to be.
My favourite technique is one where it leaves a good amount of sketchy feel in the drawing; something like these
do they actually use like 10different shades of the same tone and pile up on top of the other with high opacity?
i did try it like that but failed - apart from taking a hell lot of time
i mean most of these draw such beauties in a short time (1hr or less)
oh and i prefer using painter then photoshop; i find it easier to blend
but consider the time ive been practicing over and over again and not having the results i wish, im kinda thinking im not good to pursue such a hobby; which is kinda sad
any help or redirection much appriciated
