First up, I can't thank you guys enough for telling me about the Painter 6 fix! Now I've got a question about Painter and Windows laptops.
My laptop sports a 2 gig processor and 4 gigs of ram. After Painter, both 6 and 10 have been running for about five minutes, the fan kicks on full blast. It kicks on and stays on even with the memory usage halved and undos limited. I've scaled my OS down to the bare basics and it still happens. Funny thing is, Painter is not being greedy piglet. Even with the fan on full blast, memory usage doesn't go above 35% and CPU usage in the single digits.
The problem seems to be exclusive to Painter. 600 dpi files in Photoshop CS4 run quietly. A 200 page book in InDesign 5 with high quality on runs smooth and cool. So is there any way I can limit Painter's usage. It wasn't a resource hog on my 256 meg Win98 system or my 600 gig XP system, and I'm really worried I'm going to burn up my laptop.
