MORE of post number 8 PLEASE! That is some GOOD STUFF.
This should be the last of my image bombs today Unless I get off my lazy arse and do some digital stuff tonight.
You should see:
-pyramid head from silent hill
-a female study piece (that I turned into some random pointless design)
-a pose study (that I turned into nightcrawler after the fact)
-a woman and guy in coats (these are actually pretty recent)
-Ororo from X-Men (Another random drawing that I ended up turning into something else, is there a pattern here? Do I have some weird artist OCD that hasn't been identified yet?)
-a fairly recent robot woman that I never finished. I fiddled with the brightness/contrast because it was just too light to see well.
-Rogue (who actually started out as Rogue believe it or not). As I recall, I was trying to do some line work that would show the curves of shapes without actually using any shading. After some experimentation I did this piece. It sort of works and sort of doesn't. I went a bit overboard on the face, and the wrinkles at her crotch area don't seem right to me. Especially in the style I was going for. Anyways, I thought it was interesting, and it was fun to do.
-Superman. (this one started out as Superman as well... maybe my weird OCD is as lazy as I am and just wasn't bothered that day) I tried coloring a copy of the inked version with super cheap markers, and it shows. It might be interesting to color this one in Painter now that I have a feel for it.
Well, looks like I got off my lazy arse. Wanted to try bounced light off of sand. It turned out ok I think. Not the greatest mech ever designed though. And, why would anyone put a green mech in a desert scenario? Who knows. Maybe they think the mech is so awesome it doesn't need to hide? Or maybe someone mixed up the orders and now there is a mech in the jungle with desert camo.
Run! Run in fear or shutter and weep, for I present to you, the terrible, the horrible, the incredible SNAILDOG! His powers include sliding along concrete, sleeping 50% of the day, and instantly dissolving in salt!
Seriously though, I was warming up tonight and drawing random stuff when I heard my wife say, "Chev, what the hell is that?" I was on autopilot apparantly as we were watching law and order re-runs. I didn't even realize what I was doing. I thought it was kinda funny, so, here it is for your enjoyment.
I have absolutely no idea where I was going with this one. I was really just playing around, listening to TOOL, and I guess it put me in this weird mood. Anyways, I thought it was kinda interesting, so I decided to post.
Been practicing landscapes. Man, I need looooots more practice. I need to get off my arse and take some photos and do ref pieces. Anyways, I haven't been updating much lately since nothing good has come out of my practice stuff. This is one of the better ones though (which should give you some idea of how rough the other ones must have been). I wasn't shooting for extreme detail, I just wanted to try to capture the feel of a scene and try to get my values and colors down. Not to mention depth.
really neat stuff man!

Yay! conceptart is back up! I just got painter 12 and I'm currently trying to get used to the new brushes and layout. Did some quick sketches tonight and thought I'd post them since I haven't posted anything in a while.
Quick sketch I did at work. Had the image in my head and had to get it out.
Here's a little sketch of another idea. It's a wip, so, hopefully in the next few days I'll find time to finish it and post.
@Lux_Aeterna - Thanks mate! Work has been hectic, but I'm trying to keep at it. Gets hard sometimes.
Not sure why, but I never posted the black and white version of my screaming face thing like I intended, so here it is.
Sketch I did today. I really need to stop doing these no ref pieces and find some photos to draw. I think I have the form down ok, but I have a feeling some of my forms aren't quite right. Practice practice practice.
Quick little fun sketch today.
Another ship design/practice. I sketched it in pencil and ink, then used photoshop for the color.
Been messing around with this for the last couple of days. I think I'm finished with it.
I revised the face of my previous post. Not sure about it though. I think the rendering for her is much better, but I feel like maybe her face being such a lighter color makes it appear to float in the piece.
I'm getting ready for a small show this week, and I've picked a few old pieces to spice up for printing. The indian woman piece I did was always intended for the show, and I think I'm done tweaking it. The old robot piece is an old one I posted a while back, and the bald guy piece is another one you will see further back on the page. Anyways, I thought these three were redone enough to warrant posting the new versions. Wish me luck at the show!
Quick sketch of a samurai.
I was playing around with the watercolor brushes in painter. I thought this was sorta interesting, so, I'm posting it!
Random sketches from today.
Sketch of some random rangerish person.
Was trying to imagine an airline in the distant future. This is what came out of my head! Complete with anti gravity discs right from the bottom of Marty Mcfly's hovering skateboard.
Started a study tonight. If I have time, I think I want to tighten this up a bit more in the future.
Quick witch design.
Painting the witch last night but another bug in my head for a similar thing. I wouldn't call this a witch though. maybe some sort of weird queen? /shrug
In any case, I haven't done much nude form drawing and thought it would be good practice as well as getting the idea out of my head.
After looking at this piece. I didn't think it was dark and macabre enough. It just wasn't giving me the dark, scratchy look I was going for. I think this version is closer to what I had in mind.
A shaman channeling the spirit world.
