I find myself in an awkward position in life and my only out seems to be to find a way to push through with more artistic endeavors, I'm currently doing a course in game design and know of a place opening locally who seem more then interested in selling prints which I would adore to design but as I try and build myself up I keep finding I have so little evidence behind me and I have a job where I have precious little time to really study.
I'm asking for general advice as to.. what would you include in a portfolio? would you recommend me 'coursework' as such to help me break out of this.. pretty unforgiving job (my shifts vary from 6 to 16 hours and lately have all started at 3am... i... am... tired).
I've only recently started using Photoshop. Most of my stuff has been traditional but due to work the last three months I have barely drawn a thing since Christmas.
One of my first life drawing exercises in Photoshop, I know it needs darker values (ignore the face, I gave him baby face but fixed it with sinister mustache)
A rough sample of some of the gesture studies I've been doing.
Even now I'm struggling to find good examples without sharing from my game design folders and I am too tired usually to put much thought into what I actually want to draw, I used holiday days and gave myself the next 6 days off so I can dedicate to setting up a worthwhile portfolio.
I welcome any thoughts or input thank you :>
