Uh... hi. I'm Nero. Formerly Cinda 7 on DA.
I've had this account for forever, but quite frankly, everyone on here is so good, it's intimidating. ._.; I feel like I can't even hold a candle to even the worst artist I've seen here.
But recently I've done a lot of soul searching. Long story short, I'm miserable in my life and my crappy retail job. I've been doing everything I can to break into art and comics, but it's slow going. I've had a few minor successes, but nothing to pull me out of my dwindling misery.
So I've decided to swallow my pride and seek help from the artists on here, since every time I browse here, I'm always blown away by the amazing talent.
But I finally decided, what better way to IMPROVE than to actually seek advice from the handful of helpful deviantART users.
*Sigh* Well let's get this over with, shall we? Do be gentle with your critiques, I have a very weak ego. ^^;
So lemme just start with some stuff I've done this year:
So for this one, I was trying to FINALLY do a decent background, and I colored it with Prismacolor markers. Though it started off as a doodle, I feel like there can still be major improvements. Ideas?
Sad to say digital painting is not one of my strong points. I've been dabbling in Sai recently, but I'm really shaky at how to use it. If anyone could perhaps give me some ideas as to how to improve in Sai, I'd be greatly appreciative!
More Sai practice. Also messing around with foreshortening and worm's eye view and all that jazz.
Err... attempting to be painterly with Prismacolor markers... didn't work...
Trying to be experimental with sketchy Sai paintings.
Traditional inked piece.
Trying to do a character reference sheet.
Dabbling in watercolors. I haven't the foggiest idea how to use them. Then just messed the lighting in Photoshop and threw on some textures.
So yeah... my art.
My tablet kinda died recently, and I'm DYING to do more digital painting. My commissions are open to help me save up for a new one. I also have an Etsy shop. I try to price everything I do reasonably. I've even been doing $1 bust/chibi commissions to help me save up. So far I've only gotten a handful from a friend of mine, and one $2 commission (two characters) from another friend. Sooooo... it's slow going. Even spreading the word would benefit me greatly!
Thanks for looking/reading!
