An Oil portrait 50x50cm "what you looking at?"
a little late night quick training in PS. It's been a while. 50 min doodle.
Saw the photo on FB.
Apparently it's the dude's birthday.
Custom timeline header for Facebook.
If you want to create your own dimensions are 851x315 and the avatar is located at 0.9cm till 5.5cm fro left to right en 8cm till end from to to bottom.
It's a little self-portrait.
Instead of painting every splash i tried remedy it by using a brush. it beats painting everything by hand, but i need some more insight into how to use brushes for texture and effects.
Another 2 hours spend well.
2h on my new monitor. Still need to calibrate it...
First sketch up of my Gf's grandmother who passed away last week.
An oil selfportrait i did yesterday. Lost alot of color nuances in the photo.(mainly green and yellows) but this is the gist of it.
and an update on Granny.
continued after work yesterday. pretty much done with it, on to the next.
Done from life. photoshop study.
Note to self: Don't do from life stuff in the morning when the sun is rising.....
1h Morning doodle to get the day going.

Some experiment on abstract vs figurative, depth vs flat, illusion vs reality.
Its inspired by the facade of my academy, with the sunlight hitting it yesterday.
uploaded a smaller image. the shadow line became a bit wonky with the downsizing.
mask testing, masked some self portraits tegether.
2h Morning study.
Koopgoot @ Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Found another tuto site, some of you might find very usefull, it has some really good information and education. check it out -> http://www.youtube.com/user/FZDSCHOOL
Some photoshop brush abuse/testing.
Added some stuff and did a new sky. using cloud brushes and anything else i could find and use. and used some adjustment layers for the first time.
I think watching the tuto's helped alot. (some color detail in the clouds got lost in the cropping)
Maybe i should try and see if i can do a Turner painting, anyway logged another 9h's on PS today
Thnx for watching

nice body of work. and I am glad to see that you are using traditional media a lot. I am certainly not in the position to give you advice, because I am just an art infant and I don't have done the amount of traditional work you have yet, but my eye does tell me something I can't ignore. It whispers in my ears that you can go much further, much much further if you take some extra time to refine your stuff with additional layers. And some of your oils are incredible compared to the rest of your work. I hope that I will look at your sb again in the future and that I get thrown off the chair beause of amazement.
I hope so too
Thanks for dropping a line, much appreciated. Been using PS and corel now for 6 months and the progress is pretty good. Trying to improve every day. I need to take some more time to do things.
Traditional oils is going good, really making headway.
I am really struggeling to get a 'feel' with PS brushes. I am looking for a way to showoff the digital brushes side of PS without losing the integrity of the subject. Or falling in cheap tricks.
Thnx for visiting.
Hey Bakker, I really like how you set your colors, but now it's time for some rendering
So keep up the good work, dude!
Risen from the Dead
Yeah i'm gonna look into that, although i dont really am that into rendering. I like to "sell" the image with as little brush strokes as possible. keeping the abstract view but tricking the brain into thinking its so much more. I really like creating the illusion.
Your painting skills your awesome but a bit muddy in some. Those environments are crazy good though.
Thanks for dropping by guys.
Capt Surge: there landscapes or rather Skies. Yeah my painting tends to go muddy after overworking it as i mostly work wet on wet. PS is very forgiving in that way, actually PS is very forgiving in alot of ways. How i wish to have a Command+Z
hotkey on my canvas......
Thanks for watching.
Towy: Thanks for dropping by. Yeah never gonna drop the oil painting its to much fun
Woke up waaaay to early this morning @5:30.... so i started this one, it's 11:30 now so been screwing around for a good 6h on this apparently... :| lets make that 5h considering bathroom breaks and breakfast.
Another study of my fellow headcase GF
added a little gif for fun. seems Flash isn't the best tool for it. What do you guys use to make gifs? (added an swf for better qualtity on the gif)

Ooh, that's brilliant. My concrit was going to echo everyone else's -- render! -- but I see you've taken care of that already. Beautiful strokes in that one.
And yeah, I don't get textured brushes either mate. I don't know how everyone else does it and they don't seem to either.
