couple of knights from head:
October 4th, 2011, 05:14 AM
those knightes look pretty sick i feel so special you rendered for me =] man but do some studying on form and shape and anatomy around the neck and shoulder your image looks a little week im not sure what it is exactly, i think on the first one its the highlights on the lower portion of the neck throwing it off and on the second on the lack ot trap muscles. keep going man your doing good stuff
October 8th, 2011, 11:19 AM
There are some parts of the knight where the lighting seem a bit off, like in the shield of the second one. Otherwise really nice rendering
October 9th, 2011, 01:26 AM
prsnsweeney: thanks man, and yeah you're right i think there's too much reflected light in that neck portion.
skMOP: yeah the shield is supposed to be reflective and concave, but i just ended up bullshitting it. D: thanks though!

Wow, you have really been doing some stuff.. =) Those knights look pretty awesome, could be kinda cool to walk around all day shooting stuff in orange glasses, lull =)
I like your last drawings tho, you really make fat ladies look awesome! =) Their forms feel nice and chunky and blubbery (in a good way!) =)
Jus ups on your work tonight, think you're doing well at the moment =) Cheers bro! =) *Kittypaw high 5!* =)

Nice work, I really love those knights the armour and colours are great!
Oil paintings are also vibrant and well painted
October 21st, 2011, 03:16 AM
nice life drawings and paintings!
I reckon you need to work a bit on your poses and shapes, your characters always come across as slightly wobbly, as if you're not sure what shapes you're drawing. might be that's where those squiggly lines come from, you're not sure and you're trying to cover a lot of possible solutions at once without committing.
check out drawings by hogarth or mike mattesi, they've got great descriptive line quality in their drawings!
hope this helps

Your rendering technique is awesome, looks very cool. specially the Knights you should do a series on those, like the knights of the round table or something. Very cool. I'd like to know what brushes are you using in photoshop?
October 28th, 2011, 03:29 AM
AlexTooth: thanks man, glad you like them
NeonDuck: thanks duck, yeah i need to be more decisive. practice makes better!
smallergod: thanks man. i mostly use the hard round and chalk brush, with some m@ and jaime brushes for noise and texture.
nother mech thing from imagination, playing with edges and focus again:
and a little oil painting:

Hey bro, think you have stepped up your mind work quite a bit =) I got maybe one little suggestion to put in some specular highlights on your metal materials, a few here and there to help them out, for example on the corners, edges and rough parts of the metal in your last piece =) Hope that helps =) Go hit that next study! =) Cheers bro =)
November 10th, 2011, 03:21 AM
Kungfoowiz: thanks man, yeah i probably could've pushed the speculars on the last one. gotta study more!
ahhh i turned 19 yesterday D:

Your stuff is coming along, you just need to keep practicing anatomy and surface painting. On your most recent digital painting of the guy with the big sniper rifle nothing really pops out enough. Try uping the saturation on the guy because he's nearer to us, use some more dynamic shifts in lighting/contrast on him. Putting in some reflect light would really help make him pop into three dimensions.

Amazing stuff, i really need to study hard now, i am inspired (secretly cries)
how long does it take you for a digital piece on average?
i really need a benchmark to work on, would be great if you could get back to me via my sbook!
November 15th, 2011, 10:31 AM
Cool stuff, good hard work : ) especially like the speed oil figure paintings.
November 15th, 2011, 11:14 AM
Awesome stuff, the improvement is definitely visible! Love your oil paints, especially since I hate traditional painting lol, and the knights up top have awesome design. I do think you need to make your focal points a bit clearer though, something I struggle with too
