Absolutely awesome creates...that swamp dragon is intense!
Really awesome creature designs you have there, i had to check your sketchbook when i saw your latest entry for COW. So, can't really critique your work, not the best man to do it... I would say your colors seems to lack some bright and saturation in some pieces... so the creatures kinda blend with the environment. Not sure if it is really the result you're up to or something else...
By the way, keep it up.
Psychobuddy: Thanks Glad you like it!
kevin_:thanks, now you've commented on both this and my cghub SB, will be sure to reeturn the favour soon
Caio Chagas: don't be ridiculous, anyone and everyone is welcome to leave any sort of helpful feedback! Thanks for stopping by regardless!
Ricardo Robles: Glad you approve!!^^
Christoffer: Official dog food taste tester of course!! haha Thanks!!
...and a bunch of scribbles and doodles to get those creative juices flowing...very nice technique for coming up with ideas almost instantly
the last one I was little bit too tight, but I loosened up with these, even with no more than two or three lines you could make a critter out of...
a quick edit...some doodles for cow...

Just finished a little study spree...lately whenever I try to paint something, nothing comes out, so to force myself I did some quick 30-40 min studies....here are the results....
nice sketchbook mate
on the last few studies work on your focus. you have some depth of field going (especially on the shell), but there is need of more sharpness in your rendering to the areas of focus. that will help give the image a more complete feeling even if it is only meant to be a sketch
oh and i'm guessing the waterfall is from photo reference, but i would take the liberty of adding some color (flowers or something) to the area of focus, which is probs the top of the waterfall.
keep up the hard work man, it is paying off
Hey man glad to see you working hard, its paying off, your rendering has become better, keep trucking!
some sketches done for team challenge, as well as an update on my General King...and a quickie for a previous chow...
Your creatures are friggin' great dude! And they keep on getting better.
Swamp dragon is very cool. But so many more are great!
I would suggest to play a little more with colors in the shadow in general.
A good start would be to use the complementary color, darkened, on the creature.
Keep it up!
Now to figure out how all this new stuff works...
Here's a painting for CGHub
another creature painting, and some thumbnail sketches and silho for cow...
Even if there is no direct reference to the size of that sea serpent, it still looks humongous.
I mean that little squid could be a either a baby or a freakin Kraken and I didn't even notice it at first and the monster still looked huge.
I don't know how you pulled it off but you did. Great job.
Keep those critters comin.
Christoffer: to be honest neither did I, haha Thanks mate!
SMILEFACE: NOT IF EYE STUDEE YER SKILLZ FURST!!!!!
ok, a bunch of stuff...new paintings wips and stuff....
also I found alchemy very useful for designing quicks maps, I've done about 20 in about 20 mins but I picked a few of the best ones I thought...
Really cool design! Just my two cents, I think you could have made the creature stand out more from the background. Maybe you could have made the background darker or the creature more saturated? I'm not entirely sure.
Check out my sketchbook! Socially acceptable opportunity to yell at a teenage girl!
Great creature drawings!
"Step by Step One Travels Far."~Tolkien
keeptime: or both! Thanks for the feedback!
So yeah, been slacking like a boss as of late, mainly due to computer problems (I know what your thinking 'excuses! excuses!')...but I did do these pieces recently!!
thieving chow wip...
some fantasy enviro thumbnails...

Your creatures designs are imaginative as always.
The demonic speedsters are especially well done. I like the burning light and smoke coming out from their eyes and bodies.
The Glabrezur is nicely done too but looks a little too much like Diablo.
The Star wars beast has a great posture almost like an orangutan. The mouth and the blood coming out of it looks great.
Perhaps you could've played more with the dof as the background is a little distracting.
The thief is well polished. I haven't seen that many human characters in here.
Wouldn't mind seeing more of those too.
Mermaid painting for cghub's characterforge
and a pretty crappy generator bug for cow (more of an exercise than anything real serious, only took me a couple hours to paint)
downtime was a bummer, but because of that I got lots of stuff to put in here, however I will not do that just yet, but I will plonk a few wips that I'm working on!
One for cow, one for iow, and one being remade from a previous cow...after these are done I will most likely sling everything else into the mix...
As some of you may know, Si_Swe and (lark have stepped down as moderators of Creature of the Week. Both have been very busy as of late with studies, clientwork, life, etc...They have graciously handed over the position to myself. At this moment my first topic (technically still (lark's topic because it was lost during all the mumbo-jumbo with the site so I decided to re-post it) is approaching it's deadline (which is approx 24 hrs from now) With that comes topic number 299, then a big milestone for Cow, topic number 300!!! Keep your eyes peeled, for that which will happen in just over a week!!!
Now in the future (possibly around Cow #300) I will have a VERY large update for my sketchbook, seeing as I had lots of time to create paintings and sketches to put here, to get this thread active again I will put up some wips that I am, was, will be working on...
Gargoyle sketches variants and wip for CGHub
Wuli filter feeder creature for CGHub
(note number 2 does not fit the brief as it is supposed to be a medium sized creature, not a large creature)
Obsidian Plated War Bird for COW, may not be able to finish
Tiki Sun God, fun idea but didn't really bother further than this
Jadis Variants done for Chow

MASSIVE UPDATE! After editing this about a dozen times, I think it's ready for viewing! A little bit of everything is here; creatures, characters, sketches, wips, studies, finished pieces, etc. Lots and lots of stuff has been done since the beginning of the year and had no time to upload anything due to the issues the site was having. Until now!!! I've been busier than I thought I had been!
...and a quick reminder to those creature designers out there, CoW 300 is now open! It is going to last for a month so there's lots of time to get in lots of creatures!

As a reminder of COW 300, I will post my first wip for that topic!! Stop on by if you're feeling up to it!!
Well I gotta say your creature designs are awesome.
What I have noticed looking at your creatures is that you are not pushing your materials enough, eg, slimy creature not looking slimy enough. This requires a fair bit of knowledge in how light reacts to different surfaces.
Material studies are in order, this will take your creature designs to a whole new level.
