I really love how you pick the colors.
SatelliteNoodles: thank you!
whoops haven't updated in a while!
here's some stuff, will add more later!
I really liked the two pictures with the red thread in them. Both around a girls neck, but one of them is headless. They are really pretty.
Illeander:Thank you very much!
Vertical: Haha yeah so much for that plan, once school kicked in I stopped finding time to upload : ( And thanks so much!!
some more stuff
hands and feet from life and books/magazines
a bit older - but life drawing from art class
I can't wait to try it again, I want to work on cleaning up my lines!
and a doodley thing
wow there is a sad amount of updating going on here this sketchbook seems to have fallen to the wayside
here's a self-portrait I did today for now, hopefully I can find the time to add some more stuff soon
did some pose drawing today, it was quite disastrous! I must start practicing anatomy with more frequency
I'll draw men next time, I'm even worse at them!
if possible, critique on these would be most appreciated!
also broke out the acrylics today, the first was just awful so I backtracked and did some simpler ones
very small only about 4"x5" sorry for bad photoquality
also looking to improve in acrylics!
and a study I did a while ago from posemaniacs
hopefully have some more interesting stuff to put up soon!
thanks for viewing! : )
Hello there, some very nice updates! I really like the colours in the acrylic paintings, are they from life or photo? You can have a lot more fun with snow and get nicer effects, some links and a landscape master's blog you might want to check out (oils but still applies)
The figures are coming along fine, some of them are suffering a bit with anatomy placements - what I mean is it looks like you've strived to copy the lines of the photo too much rather than the forms of the body on a couple, though you should have a nice blend of both for accuracy really. The second on the third row of the first image, with her hands above and behind her head is an example, i'd recommend just throwing in lines for the hips and collarbone like the girl to the right of it, and mark in the ribcage before the lines of fatty skin that cover that large solid.
Thank you for the most helpful advice and links! Those examples of painting are so lovely, I think I'll have another go at some snow soon and try to make it more lively!
The paintings I posted are from life out of a window.
Also thanks for the view on the figures, that's a good point and I will start working on that! : )
Wow to have such an inspirational artist give me advice makes me want to work harder! Thanks for the visit and the help!
Things I managed to draw during school today, some quick pose-drawing from life... I can really see my bodies don't quite fit together confidently. I think I'll do some bone/muscle/underlying shape studies to hopefully help that!
Also we got some nice coloured paper in french to make study sheets so I drew my classmates, my hand, and a few objects : )
Unfortunately my seat is back-left so not a whole lot of variation between face angles
also a one-point perspective study of my house I forgot to post
Hopefully I'll be able to get some more drawn tonight and tomorrow, going to get working on that anatomy structure!
Thanks for viewing and critique is as always much appreciated!
Whoops I forgot to be jealous of you for a while. But now you're back, probably won't happen again :/
Nice work, I'm glad to see you posting again ! Be sure to compliment your observational studies with work from imagination to test what you've learned
Vertical: Hey man thanks for sticking around! It's good to be back!!
And good idea, I took your advice and did some!
some female pose drawing from imagination I managed to get done during school yesterday
wow these are pretty embarrassing!
I will just have to keep working at this
and today there was some neat lighting in one of my classes so I snapped a picture and did a study for fun!
It's the weekend tomorrow so I hope to get some good anatomy studies done
along with studying for exams and doing summatives yuck
thanks for viewing!! (:
Nice work. I really like the lighting on that desk.
MellowPsycho: thank you!
got a bit done today!
did some studies from loomis to see how he builds bodies
did some studies from photos, trying to build them more
and 50 30sec poses
Do poses from imagination do poses from imagination do poses from imagination. You won't believe how much time I wasted doing quick gestures and never doing any work to apply what I learned from them, so they didn't help at all.
Vertical: ahh! thanks for sharing your experience and advice! I get what you mean, if I never draw poses from my imagination I'll... never be able to draw poses from my imagination
so I did some more poses from imagination, trying to apply what I've just been observing!
hmm having some issues with elongating the figure, and the shoulder/neck/head/boob parts not connecting properly
also I notice as soon as the pose involves the knees close to the body I just get confused
I have some ideas of more ways I might go about connecting my studies to my imagination more, must get to those!
and some silly doodles
thanks for viewing!

Awesome sketchbook. Keep it up!
Yemi775: Thank you!
Roope Maatta: Thank you very much! : )
unfinished still life from today, not too happy with it but I did learn a bunch and will attempt another one
I will add more soon! I need to find the time more often to update here
finally found some time to update!
stuff is older and newer, first some in-colour doodles
the first I never got around to fixing, so it's kind of wonky;;
second's a bit boring augh
I've been trying to draw more in class - this obviously isn't all of it but gives an idea of what I've been doing
a mix of observation and imagination
also drawing at lunch, my friends doing various things
unfortunately my friends are all female so I'm not getting a whole lot of male practice : ( I'll have to go make some guy friends
a bit older, 1min drawings from ref
also a character design + action poses, class assignment
vessel design for ceramics class
building from observation
I'm going to say getting some more imagination poses, more action, males, and expressions are next
hopefully I can get some painting done soon either traditionally or digitally, I need to tackle colour
also get some more backgrounds drawn
lots to do!
feedback/critique is greatly appreciated! thanks for viewing! : )
Vertical: Thank you! duly noted, I will try to stop avoiding hands and feet and get more imagination poses done. Your input is greatly appreciated as always! : ) Thanks
tehmeh: wow thank you very much, I certainly will!
did a very short animation on the weekend
I used a clip I found online as reference and played it about a million times to try to figure out what the heck was going on
I really had now idea what I was doing, but it was fun!
two acrylic still lifes
kinda lame at this right now, I'll have to get better!
wow, you're pretty damn good for 15! just judging from your work id take a guess you've taken some traditional art classes(?) so you've got a GREAT foundation. only thing i have to say is to just keep on drawing. the more you do the better and faster you get. (some longer, polished studies might help as well. keep at it kid
and i love the animations by the way. might have to try some myself....
lancer_idenoure:Thanks so much! Yep, my school's got a great art program I just started out in, it's helping a bunch! ah yeah all my studies have been really quick lately, good point. Thanks for dropping by! : )
stuff from the past few days and today
study of male models, colour and b&w
did some female poses from imagination during class, hand studies, and a room school assignment
also for school, designing a vessel(ref used) it's a fetus as a plant pot
when you pour water in, and the excess comes out it's eyes like tears
still can't decide which one I want to make : (
and I've mentioned a few times how I was useless at male anatomy, today I finally started to tackle it!
started off with some quick pose drawing to figure out which parts I was worst at (everything)
got out my anatomy books did some studies
did some longer poses
and finally some from imagination! I definitely learned a lot, still got a ways to go...
also did some heads&female poses for good measure
and a sketch-scene? credits to losrebeckos for the wolf ref
and I'm off to Montreal tomorrow morning for a few days, we're going to museums & art galleries while there, so hopefully I can learn a bunch and get lots of things drawn! : )
Thanks for viewing! Feedback is appreciated as always! : )
winterfingers from DA? idk if you remember me but its apple-seed aka Elky~ Damn you have gotten far in terms of improvement and amazingness overall. i suggest you work on muscle studies, they help a lot in terms of figures. c:
Elks are orange
Elks can fly
awesome work man! good to hear your high school has a good art program. definitely take advantage of it. my high school didn't have anything lol...literally...anything. learning is always up to the individual though. anyway, good to see so many studies. keep up the good work!
Elkishly:yeah of course I remember you! I actually had a feeling it was you when I stumbled across your sketchbook but your art's changed so much I wasn't sure! WOW you've improved like crazy, man D: I'm super impressed
Thank you, and yes! I for sure should do come muscle studies, thanks : )
Eightball_: Yeah it's a great program, I'm going to milk it for all it's worth! Thanks for the encouragement and the drop by! : )
okay back from my trip I have taken in so much information and walked so much in the past few days I am dead
I didn't get as much drawing as I would have liked done, and since most of the subject matter and drawing situations were uncomfortable the quality suffered : ( apologies
anyways, I did learn a lot and found 90000 more things to improve on
first off: car ride to train station, train station, cafe, on train, people on train
then we arrived at our hotel
(hotel entrance, and counter)
went to a contemporary art gallery, popular contemporary art isn't really my thing so I drew stuff to make it more interesting (everything's interesting once you're drawing it)
also my dad, and a vegetarian restaurant we went to
went to another gallery, much more interesting, lots of masters works
got a little drawing done from two, and sketches from the place we went to for dinner
trying to recall skin tones that i'd seen that day, coming up with skin tone from imagination
love some critique on this I know there are a whole bucket of mistakes including messed up facial anatomy : (
and quick drawing of having breakfast at hotel, as well as a watercolour of my mum reading a book while we're waiting for our train
critique & feedback would be most appreciated on these in particular, since it's a lot of stuff I'm really weak at. Thanks for viewing! : )
did a study from a photo, trying to use less brushstrokes to describe what's there
I felt like that wasn't making my brain work enough, I was falling into the trap of just copying without thinking about what I was copying.
So I used this painting- http://static.traderscity.com/board/...abstract-1.jpg as a colour ref, and tried to apply the colours to another subject (a face) also used posemaniacs to help out with the facial proportions
