Haven't posted in a loooong time... This was for the art order challenge from a couple months back. I'm just looking for some feed back, critique and/or advice! Thanks!
I think this is an interesting piece. My suggestion is to change the character's expression. I think your character could use a more dynamic expression with her body.
That being said, I also think that the tentacles doesn't make much sense to me. It's just there. If you had painted a bottomless pit, it would look a lot more intense than those tentacles (not that they were painting badly).
I suggest that you try to rework that to see what could be done better.
I did a little paintover, hope you dont mind.
I added som light to the floor on her left side. The character pops out more like this, I think.
I also corrected some of the more vertical lines to the perspective to bring more "order".
The last thing I did was to the tentacles. I tried to give them a more thretening position. Also this high up in the picture with the same vetical guides controling the water dripping from them they feel more integrated in the picture.
This is just how I would work it from where youre at. Im a noob myself so feel free to ignore!
Thanks for the feed back guys!
Vince - Totally agree with you about the expression, well more so with the face. kind of seems a little un-phased. I originally had a bottomless pit idea going but it seemed a bit too empty, like I was wasting space.
Johannes - Thanks for the paint over! I like your tentacles a lot more than the couple I made lol. Way more dynamic! I was having a lot of trouble with the translucency of the water as well. You really improved on the image.
Thanks again for the feed back guys!
