I don't know about the extension cable, and there's no official word on a new revision of the Cintiq's. Currently we are scratching our heads in regards to Wacom's "press" release which indicates that (the 21UX) Cintiq is globally backordered due to a shortage of "High quality LCDs".
The previous model of 21UX (not sure about the 12WX, but chances are it's the same) definitely weren't using anything that one might consider "High quality" They were average, if not sub-standard panels that had mediocre picture quality and average brightness (nothing worthy of the price bracket)
There is some speculation that either Wacom is just calling these sub-standard panels "high quality" or they are hinting at them making a hardware revision to the 21UX/12WX with new, truly high-quality LCDs, but again, there's been no say.
Right now, estimates have been that supply will come back in around April 2011; this is more than enough time to up-rev the hardware revision with new panels but Wacom has chosen to be silent about all this, let alone availability expectations.
Suffice it to say that if Wacom DOES do an A01 revision and instead gives all these global backorders of Cintiqs the older A00 revisions, there are going to be a TON of pissed off consumers, having had to wait so long and for a product that has become instantly outdated. Wacom could put their best foot forward and ensure that if there IS a revision, these are the ones going out; besides, if there truly is no stock of Cintiqs to meet the orders, then everything they send out would theoretically HAVE to be the latest.
