Hey bro.. looking pretty cool, not sure what to say yet.. mmm just have fun and enjoy the learning process I guess.. =)
wow you are posting an incredible amount and these updates are definitely causing a big improvement! Seriously nice work. I will get up tomorrow and think "devastacio is probably working already and I haven't eaten breakfast!".
Nothing really to say in particular, just keep on working and using some good reference books. If you need any tips I have about 30 books and I can recommend the better ones for most topics.
Your giving some good encouragement with your speedy improvements, but you are making the jaws way too long take a tad more time on finding the correct proportions. Also your skulls on side views remember that the skull is more oval and extended then the front view ball.
Its all good you wouldn't want to see my sketchbook trust me.

@ Bethany - You're welcome. . Youre correct about the VPs mate. I kept one VP far away but guess it wasnt far enough. As you said, when they are far off its so hard to keep track of them. Guess i have to try and find more information on this. btw thanks a lot for pointing it out because it helps me to improve little by little. Glad that you like the muscle studies and hope it was useful.
@ Kungfoowiz - Hello there mate. Good to have you paying a visit to my humble SB. Im definitely having fun learning all these stuff. Will payoff someday
@ ThomasM - You just made me laugh . Well, i believe in hard work more than anything else so pushing myself to finish off these lessons as soon as i can. Btw i mentioned what kind of books im after in your SB,in case you didnt notice. Thanks mate. I appreciate it.
@ xxPurple Nugxx - Well, hello there. Thanks for vising my SB. Guess you are right. Sometime i just tend to rush things without noticing errors i made. Thanks a lot for pointing those mistakes out. I tried to visit your SB but seems like the link is broken.
Well, moving on to the updates....
More facial muscle studies, done as a recap to soak up whatever i have learnt so far. Have to do more of these for various facial expressions.
Hope you guys find this useful as i did.
You have started to brutalize the face muscle studies. Way to go.
I could catch up with you, but I am just too slow, I am spending only
daily about 20 minutes on these video tutorials. I know it sounds bad.
5-6 hours on the city perspective study? Amazing. It was worth the time
definitely. I also did some imaginary studies and some anatomy drawings,
I hope that I will post them today, but this time it is for real.
In the post #91, I think that the base skull proportions aren't right, the head
is elongated somehow, you should have done it wider maybe.
Good progress overall, we will talk some more later today.
@ Snake - Hey thanks mate. yeah, you are right about the skull shape. I dint notice it at first. Ill watch out for those mistakes in my future work. Ill visit your sb soon to see the latest updates.
Well,More studies im afraid, and in this case, studying the facial features now. Soon will be able to draw detailed and rendered faces from my imagination. Wanted to draw these pieces from my mind so i can test myself.
Going to hit the Loomis books now for more info. See you guys later.
Mel Gibson visited me yesterday, I gave him
my lawnmower for the next week, he has a lot
to work-he says.
We had a few beers, and my head hurts a bit now.
I have nothing to suggest cause you are
doing the right things.
If you need lawn moving, I can send him to you
around next Wednesday.
@ Kungfoowiz - Glad that you like them and hope you found them useful. thanks for the support mate. Hope youll have a wonderful time celebrating Christmas and the New Years eve. (oh yeah Party up hard! )
@ Snake - About what Mel Gibson said;Actually that’s not what he said to me. He said, hes laying mines in your garden so next time you delay your updates he’s going blow your sorry ass sky high . Nooooo Don't send him over here !! I have done my daily updates. . Btw Thanks a lot for Everything mate. I appreciate it. hey, Enough work, Get some beer ready, lets party up!!
Well im almost done with the facial muscles this is the last piece of it. It shows the muscle movement when laughing. Have to do this kind of study plates for more facial expressions.
I think probably this will be the last update for the year.If i do something interesting ill uplod it anyway. Im so glad for all the support you guys provided me and will repay it when i get a chance to do so. Want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Now go get some beer and party hard !! have fun mates. cheers!!
Happy new year and merry Christmas to U 2.
Sad to hear that this is the last update in this year, there
is still a whole week till then.
Anyway, Gibson was looking strange while he was pissing
in my backyard after those beers. He was laying mines,
now that clarifies some things.
We can get all together, You, me and Gibson for New Years
eve, and get some beers some chicks and party up. Gibson
knows some hot chicks.
Hey! You are really rockin' my friend. Very impressive. Those facial muscle studies will come in handy for sure. Just be careful not to forsake the structure and proportions of the skull!
Those nose studies look really successful. I can see you are starting to understand form more completely
Merry Christmas to you! I hope you're still planning to draw, even if you're not going to share with us
I fear I have nothing much to say about your studies, keep it up, well you will anyway,
I like the profile head with muscles in #96.
You draw face muscles so much I couldn't resist and researched them for a few hours today (I draw mostly faces but face muscles were somewhat neglected by me till now). I'll draw them later.
Hey, nice sketchbook you have going on here, I can see the improvement! Keep it up
Very cool stuff indeed! #87looks like it took hell of a time but has that cool surrealistic artsy look... kood enough to frame and hang somewhere.
the ones before that are good too... #79 has some issues with perspective on the tower but looks neat never the less. #77 i like a lot looks very creative and fast.
And merry Christmas to you too!

cool sketchbook man good to see your doing the studies
my only crit would be to work on your construction before you go into rendering
keep it up
sketchbook updated October 6th
Man, you've updated a lot in the little time this thread has been alive. Really good work. Keep up with the studies!
I think doing facial muscles would help, but I think, that first thing you should do is to study rules of head construction. Keep going mate, Merry Christmas!
Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas. Now, i wasn't planning to update this till the end of the year but couldn't resist drawing some stuff. So did a bulk upload here. Anyways planning to do another good update probably on 2nd or 3rd Jan.
Well lets get to the replies..
@Snake - Hey, Well i didnt want to do an update coz i met my goals on time and am a happy guy. but i drew too much in my spare time, in last few days so, thought about an update. Besides, i know you're waiting to send Mr Gibson here so, I was scared as well. You gave him free booze so, really dont want him on my doorstep in a drunk and angry state. Bad combo.
Thanks for the constant support mate.
@ Kiwi - Hey thanks a lot mate! Yeah i was rushing the study plates and payed for it. My bad. Will visit later to see how your 'Ice Princess' concept going on. Thanks a lot for your support mate. Much appreciated.
@ Ramalooke - hello there mate, Hope you had some major fun! Btw please update your sb Would want to see more work of yours. and hey, Thanks for the constant support and helpful tips.
@ shiNIN - Hello there, Yeah, studying facial muscles is crucial because knowing them well, will enable you to portray the facial expressions realistically. Hope you done some updates. Ill be there.
@ Lang Oulk - Hi there, Thanks for visiting my sb mate. as i mentioned i really do like your concepts. Will drop by as soon as possible.
@ equilerex - Hello there my friend, I NEED THAT PC CASING just kidding. seriously amazing stuff. Glad that you like the cityscape although the VPs are little too close. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
@ OmertA - Well hello there, Good to see some experienced artists in here As you mentioned i started working on it. Going for Loomis stuff as well. dedicated this week just for drawing heads and gettin it right. Thanks a lot for pointing it out mate. Ill have to go through your sb mate. will do it as soon as possible.
@ jNeumann - Yeah i have done approximately 35 updates in 38 days. Should have done more . Thanks for your comments mate.
@ Seraph Fawkes - Hello there, As you and OmertA pointed out, I started to work on head construction. Using Loomis at the moment. Thanks a lot mate. I appreciate it.
Well moving on to the updates. Working on the head construction carefully this time. Trying my best not to rush it. Im trying to vary the head/jaw shape and draw as well. Anyway ned much more practice so this entire week reserved it for this task (apart from celebrations all around ) Also, learning the pencil drawing techniques properly and im loving it. ( im referring Pencil Drawing Techniques by David Lewis, which is really good)
Did the heads from my mind and rest of the drawings are from my imagination. ofc critiques are more than welcome. Hope you guys enjoy.
I almost missed your update.
Good for you that you did this posting, cause otherwise
you know what would have happened.
Crazy dreams you have, judging from those shady
Head studies are always welcome, you are
becoming more confident with them.
Next thing that I would like to see from you
is an imaginary weapon or character.
Maybe after New Years eve?
the backgrounds are neat!
As for the heads, the skull areas are totally ok but the jaw's are completely off. On the last 2 drawings the jaw looks pretty much like a rectangular box the shading is good but the anatomy doesnt match. Have a look here for super simple head construction, perhaps it might be useful and could explain what i mean? http://www.anticz.com/heads.htm
@Snake - hey there, Thanks for the idea mate. Probably will do a new character concept. Have an idea in my head. But need to finish this Photo ref drawing which has been on hold for weeks. Will start working on the new concept from Jan onwards. oh btw ill have to design an armor, weapon for him as well. so its gonna be fun.
@Kungfoowiz - Hey, Glad that you like em. will keep up the good work mate, no worries.
@equilerex - you are correct about the jaws mate. Actually i was trying to draw a squre type face which i have failed. Now this issue has been bugging me for some time. Well, today I spent the entire time to get this sorted. Also, I will be practicing daily on drawing heads from my imagination. Thanks a lot for pointing out the errors and for the link as well.
Small update....from today onwards I will draw different types of heads from my mind. This is the first set. A roundish type of head. Kept the shading to the basic level since its not the main goal of this exercise. I really could use some critiques on this so that i wont be making mistakes on my future work. So please feel free if you want to mention anything.

@Snake - Glad like you like em mate. Well couldn't draw neck because i haven't learnt it yet.
@Ramalooke - Hey thanks mate. Good to have your opinion as always.
@Kungfoowiz- Hey thanks for pointing out the odd areas of that face mate. Ill be definitely think about those in my future work. I guess have to pay some more attention to the forehead and the chin area. Thanks again
Well, got more imaginary heads here. Going to render this out soon. Ill post it as soon as im done. If you see and errors please let me know. I appreciate it.
Hey, Gibson's birthday is coming soon.
It is on 3rd January.
So do not forget about it again, cause he will be pissed.
I think that the side view got some anomalies, maybe too long face;
Just like LtPlissken said. Maybe because of the long face, the eye/nose relation suffer, the eyes are practically on the cheek in the profile view. Besides, eyes are much more to the front.
Try to memorize the different parts's relative position, at least that's what I do.
@ Plissken & ShiNIN - Finally, i got the problem solved. What a relief! Ive been doing the side view totally wrong, from the beginning (see last page-side views). Problem was the placement of the nose bone and the eye socket. Wrong use of formulas in these areas and everything else got messed up! Thanks a lot for the help guys. Im so grateful.
@ Snake - Shall I design a new weapon for Mr Gibson as a B'day present? but he might use it on you first, coz i didnt see you updating today mate.....
Here goes the rendering of the previous post. Didnt go for a super realistic approach, just wanted to do a quick decent rendering, without smudging. Hope you like it.
EDITED- Images (value adjusted )
