Hey there - looking for some experience with living from drawing/animating
I'm currently studying medicine, 1½ year through - ever since I was in high school i've been drawing and dreaming about making a living out of it some day. When i finished high school i basically put the idea on hold and started studying instead, promising myself i would take the idea up for review later on. Now i'm nearly done with one of the hardest exams there is in medicine (anatomy), and i can't get drawing out of my head. There's a fairly (internationally) reckognized school where i can get a bachelor of 3½ year in 3D animation, and the economy during the education should not be a problem.
What i'm interested in, is hearing from someone working professionally in the art world - does your job allow you to have family, a steady income, is the competition in the job market so hard that you have to set everything else aside to have chance? Did you have to give up a lot of other stuff to chase your dream?
Would you personally choose a higher education (say for instance medicine) instead of what your doing now, because of the money, job security etc.?
