The following is an introduction to the summer project set by my illustration lecturers at university.
I think it is the most obnoxious chunk of bullshit I've ever read. But I'd like to know what you guys think, especially if you agree or you're in the industry and can offer some explinations that my tutors regually fail to offer."Too many illustrators spend their time working on ignorant, irrelevant and childish garbage. Producing work that shows no interest in the world around you is a proof of ignorance and immaturity. Robots, kittens, and cute bears all have their place - however, you are no longer children - you need to inform yourself about the world around you, and make sure your work reflects this. Are you informed? Do you know what's going on outside your window? What bothers you about the world? What should people be aware of?"
I really struggle to "care" about political issues and such and it increasingly worries me how much emphisis my course puts on it. I'd appreciate honest replies though.
