@Nev87: I can understand her legs feeling weird to you, but they're like that in my pose reference - including the long thigh. Hopefully refining the shading has helped some, though. And I'm glad you like the concept -thank you for your input.
@stoph: Oh, I really like her head barely above the water! Adds some emotional tension.
More progress. I'm not sure where I want to go from here; I'm not sure if I want to keep the current color scheme, or alter the tones a bit to evoke more emotional response. Hm. Thoughts?
Hint of Perseus in the corner with his shadow. I decided to go with the original "borrowed Hermes' winged shoes" approach than the later "riding on Pegasus" adaption.

Awright. Crit time!
LadyLooLauren - I liked the very first sketch you did. Not sure about the pencil one, it needs better anatomy. The arch might work but looks a bit too... soft? It needs more of a rocky look to it.
Missile - love the concept. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.
saintsaber - I think I liked the girl's pose in the first sketch better, although the first monster wasn't as good.
danlambert - the body looks nice and the moon's dramatic, but it seems generic overall.
SCF - love the monster. I think you could have pushed Andromeda's pose some more. She has a floaty quality but is almost too calm considering.
Ephelea - I thought the middle composition from the initial sketches was the strongest one. Not sure that looking pensive suits Andromeda. Antdromeda has potential!
Refschaufscheik - good start
alexson - nice composition, the lower body looks great, but there's something about her arms and waist that doesn't look right.
Sakuranym - cuteness! It may be just the way that the various elements cover her up, but some parts of the body don't look quite right.
Sentinel - great emotion! Nice colours and lighting as well.
gpalmer - try to avoid straight-on depictions of monsters. It usually flattens them out and tends to make them look comical. It doesn't even seem like it's looking at the victim.
courtyard - I like her Greek-style hairdo and the playful twist on the myth. The colours have a nice painterly look but are just a little on the flat side. There's a tangent between the rock and ruined temple in the background.
fdisk - I like the updated pose better than the first sketch. Nice dramatic angle. I like the African design of the girl. Watch those feet! They look big, blocky and awkward.
Lodin - has a nice, classy and formal feel to it. I like it.
rgeorge - I like the idea of a fight scene. It needs more reference, though. The poses just don't seem very believable.
JanJager - Some nice compositions here. I particularly liked the first and last, but there's something charming about the forlorn figure standing in the sand.
matt kohr - interesting pose, good monster, but there's something about her neck and head that make her look like a chicken. I think it's the elongated neck and large head.
pixel cheetah - all of these look a bit too posed and lackadaisical. Most of Frazetta's pics with the arched-back sexy poses worked because he didn't use those poses to illustrate danger. In the illustrations where there was danger there was sexiness but also a feeling of action or tension. You can afford to pose when you're hanging out with your giant jungle cat, not when an enormous snake is about to eat you.
Irrlaeufer - nice colours. The anatomy could use some work, she looks very Barbie-dollish.
Jager - a bit too early to say much about this. Not a bad start.
staticpen - you're going in the next batch of crits. Sorry!
Rusty - great start! I bet this is going to look awesome.
Elina - not a bad start. That first pic might turn into something with a nice dreamy quality to it.
koh - I like the emotion in her face. That breast doesn't really look natural, though.
blau - nice to see a more interesting angle on things.
jpedro - neat sketches. I like the way you use negative space.
Lady Chestnut - aww! The monster is so cute! I love him! I think Andromeda either needs longer arms or a chubbier body and shorter legs, though. Right now she looks a bit too skinny for her head.
ninyanernel - I like the arched back and the rocks, but her lower body seems kinda blobby and she's got balloon thighs.
Vaejoun - I like the second composition. I'd stretch that canvas up a bit more, I think it might be slightly better if the monster's head spines weren't cut off. I'm not entirely sure about that, though.
Razwit - the pose seems awkward, and the straight-on monster view flattens it out and makes it seem more like a caricature than a monster.
JR Mcgee - interesting take with that first sketch. Much more interesting than waify waif in the second. Watch the look of the cloth, even floaty transluscent cloth folds fairly sharply and doesn't bubble around the shoulders.
Bnoch - lovely!
telamon - her waist seems ridiculously high and her torso small compared to her head and breasts.
All right, that takes me to the end of... page 3? Good gravies, there's a lot of entries this round.
Time to get back to work, will continue with crit tomorrow. Sorry if I missed anyone!

I'm thinking this is the final. I think the pose in the WIP images I was showing was looking a little awkward because a) her left wrist was misplaced, her left hand was too long and darkly shaded. in addition, the rock had no highlights on the front side, giving the appearance that it was slanted or that there was nowhere to sit flat, which she's clearly doing. Thanks for the comments, and if you have any more they'd be greatly appreciated.
Almost forgot about the tattoos. Both of the costumes I showed in my WIPs before were lacking something, and while I liked the one I went with better, I felt it did an injustice to character design. So, it was either jewelry, which I couldn't really justify given her situation, or tattoos which worked in the situation and were simply more a part of her than any article of clothing could be.
k that's all

Hey, I am new to Concept Art and already love the community in this website. I know it's REALLY late in the game to post anything new for this contest, but here is my work in progress for Andromeda. I wanted to really show her in her worst moment before the beast swallows her up, cause if something that big and scary was about to eat me, I probably would act exactly like her trying to pull out of her chains. Critiques would be helpful and hopefully I can finish this before the deadline. Thanks!
Was beginning to hate my Andromeda, so erased her and started over(thanks goodness for layers) No more walker (thanks, I didn't see that before). I still need to re-work the arms and hem of the dress. Do you think that the new color treatment for the monster is any better?
Thanks for everyones comments.
thought I'd join in once aswell
my wip so far:
What does Final Burning mean?
APW: Final Burning is where you post your final finished image for CHOW, be sure to double check the requirements for this.
I'm almost there myself.
i might throw my hat in. been a while.
Pixeltuner Awesome as always! love the cave setting and the back lightning, the calm water makes it even creepier
harris-ejaz cool picture, I want to see more of the monster, but I’m sure its coming
rumpenstiltzkin very strong sketch, can’t wait to see it finished. I would give her a bit smaller shoe size, even though they are closer to the viewer.
Hi, my monster still needs to be detailed and andromeda too. I need to know if I the tail at the left end is unnecessary and compositionally I can get rid of it by tightening the frame (cutting off the left side).
