New CHOW, The Siren, some wips
Great stuff!specially the "water elemental ideas"~
Keep it up
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
Great sketchbook, loving your character designs. With the water elemental (which is coming along nicely BTW) I find the composition off-putting attention is obviously drawn straight to the characters head which is the obvious focal point, however due to its lack of features and therefore empathy I find myself looking for more information after quite a short while, this isn't a bad thing after all you are creating something something entirely alien to our experience. However after the face and the associated elements of the body and wrecked craft I find myself becoming distracted by the diagonal lines that draw the eye to the right hand side of the image which is relatively bare. Maybe a further narrative element to dwell upon and draw the eye to the wreck might help provide some balance to the image. It doesn't have be strong or overt something in the same colour/ saturation range would work just as well.
Of course these are just my thoughts so feel free to disregard at will, keep up the great work.
calamity Thanks for the crit, I can see what you mean with the focal point. I'm still getting to grips with adding context to characters and I'd considered widening the canvas to add the air/spacecraft, but thought it would distract from the character and so implied something was there.
I ended up submitting a different character concept for the Siren CHOW and then had a busy weekend to had to skimp on rendering the wings and background.
Started on the next CHOW, one of the seven deadly sins, going for wrath, either self-destructive or just destructive...
Cool stuff, keep it up
I'm not feeling the gardener's sci-fi shovel though. He seems rather primitive for such tools.
Guy or gal oh so fine
please take a look
and maybe drop a line
in my sketchbook

This weeks CHOW is the Hawaiian Goddess Pele, volcanic and fiery, result of first few wips.
Changed mind for Royal Family and went for the Jack of Spades as an archer, kind of in memory of my Dad who passed away late last year. He loved archery and the doodle I was doing fell into place.
Cool paintings, though maybe you could try to add more detail in certain spots to grab people's attention.
Really cool work in here! Keep them coming dood
I'll be here with the Daggers for the rest of my art journey.
Keep pushing people, let us be great together-!
Damn Ironbyte! You've improved tremendously, and the only problem area I see are your hands. In this last one especially, the thumb looks as if its just too far forward, and in most cases the middle knuckle is a bit taller than the rest. So my suggestion for you is to do pages of hand studies, and I believe you will be a much stronger artist when this issue has been dealt with. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.
