In yesterday's chillstream we took this topic ina one hour challenge, might aswell post what I drew then. Very impressive work here overall by the way!
Oh my... if this continues it will be a really hard choice to make in the poll. ^^°
@Yoru no megami: Open eyes are way more attracting than closed ones.
@Mistermike: Cool, has something surreal.
@Clochette: Not much to say about it. Nice stile. Waiting for more.
@Tommoy: Simple but sweet, the pose and pants give her a feeling of an old pin up girl.
@Jozulus: I can feel the fantasy dripping out of this ^^
@Artfix: Definately surreal, I cant even make out if there is an up or down.
Gives me a creepy feeling.
@Majortom: Nice face. Looks asian but still has something awkward about it.
@Freddy: Awww..thast cute. Would make a nice postcard. ^^ One of my favos.
@Veshkau: I like #5, but hard to say without the body.
Daring stile, looking forword for more details and a little refinement.
@Niva: To be honest, she looks more like a greek harpy to me than a kitsune.
Btw: Good job on the skintones.
@Adam: Sweet, sweet, that tattoo looks awesome. But the ear seems to be to far away from the head. And could it be that her right arm is a little long ?
@Cross: Boobs !
@Avis: Great job. Did you have a ref for that ? The face and hands are splendid.
@Artofinca: Looks like a really nice custom design to me.
@Queen: Nice start. Keep up the work.
Now that was a lot of commenting.
I had a lot of trouble with my piece.
What I do, is so unprofessional T__T I paint and see...that doesnt work. No idea what to do. Then I start experimenting like crazy with layer properties and so on und on some point I just get it. I hate that.
At least this time I have an idea what the big change was. I put a green-yellow layer above the painting which gave an effect like a base layer in oil painting. (You know when ou want tp paint something green, you put a red layer below)
That seemed to work here too, the green touch made the reds really strong.
Hey guys, awesome entries so far! here is an update on mine, i tried to take on peoples advice, but i was against changing it to much
Didn't have time to work on this during the week, but better late than never. I decided to keep it very simple. Crits welcome.
Lovely topic... and lots of great entries!
I didn't have time to do anything during the week, so I started late...
here's what I have for now... I'll come back for comments later

wow-lots of nice pieces posted. fun topic. I'ma try to get something in..here some thumbs...
and the comp I'm gonna try to finish...
Great looking entries! DVargas, good choice on thumbnail, nice silhouette so far. Dwinbotp and Vaejoun caught my eye, as well as Mickeymao's for being different. I'm sure there are lots more I missed in the earlier pages. Minor crit on Dwinbotp, she looks like she is tilted to the right a bit much.
Here is what I have so far. Trying something different with the way I work. Just gonna slap color on it quick, I'm running out of mojo. Cheers.

Wow, amazing stuff from a ton of people. Adam shumpert, I'm diggin your stuff-that sketch on the last chow was wicked, and the tat on this weeks is off the chain. Lots of competition this week, lots of variety. Here's my start-studies and wips
after following this forum for weeks and being amazed, i thought it was about time i'd join in
i'm nit sure if i'll be able to finish it in time but i can try
this is my sketch, just started colouring it, critics are more than welcome.
Work in progress.
I have some suggestions and compliments for my favorites. And an update on my own.
Afekay: Holy smokes that is looking sweet. My one suggestion would be that the fox and the kitsune should have something in common in appearance. If the 'ears' on her hat were fox ears coming out of her head instead, that might be enough.
BenDragon: Liking this altho I find the wistful standing there pose a little dull. That wall looks incredible and the cast shadows. Of course you are still finishing, but the thing on her chest--can't tell what it is. Great light and colors
Johann: I like this light and shape and the enchanted forest look. Two suggestions tho. If the background was not quite so symmetrical could make more interesting. And the back of the robe is misleading about her shape. It trails off so far behind her, it looks like she is that shape that the robe is since we can't see her body underneath. I wonder if you could make the robe shorter and more folded up on itself to indicate her size and shape better.
DwinbotP: I like this style. The beautiful Asian people with rim lighting look. Be careful of the moon, ground, and dress thingy all looking like same value. Might be a better pattern if the dress was black or dark.
Vaejoun: I have similar problems with my process. It seems like guess-work until I do something that works most often by accident! Don't be so hard on yourself tho cause it looks great. Her thighs look too short tho. It is a little confusing too why the urn is tied to her finger and shes not actually holding the string.
And my update:
Argh, here's where I'm at so far for what it's worth... Some of the painting roughed in and basic colors laid down, but most of it's still simple flat shapes, obviously... Plugging away, plugging away... (Yes I know the embroidery needs to follow the drapery better. Argh.)
Wasn't planning on participating this week's Chow but I made a sketch today, so I thought I should just post it... Even managed to throw in some color...Posted my final color in the Finals thread.
Most likely will not make it...still, had to have a go
Great topic, as per usual
Damn! I still suck at scheduling, i was having trouble to squeeze this CHOW between my works.
Here's what i've been working on so far. Sorry for not sharing these earlier, my connection was dead and just got back up today. Also sorry for not giving crits or comments, i guess it's too late to meddle with others' work... Haha... , but I will in the finals thread
I will try and finish it tonight.
Great work everyone and goodluck!
