will buy asap! wheres my credit card?!?!
This really sounds awesome, but the classes will be 23:00 to 02:00 my local time, so it will be rather hard combining the live streaming with school. So is this worth it if you'll hardly watch anything live, or should I just try making a routine of sleeping a couple of hours every day, and spend a month with a rather defect human clock?
This website will be updated over the coming days with more and more information including 11 tutorial videos over the next two weeks. There will be instructor work, student work and more being updated and showcased. For now, I hope you find this information helpful. The scholarship information will come next week, for the full program. There is additional info on Discovery and the programs we are offering within.
Best and thanks! See you soon!

Just signed up, then went and took a closer look at the instructors/class schedule. Now I'm even more excited. Thanks for doing this Jason and crew, it's looking awesome.
I am sorry if I missed this but Is this Central Standard time zone ???
Also how long will the ON DEMAND feature be up for after the classes ? ( a month, a week, etc)
Can't answer your second question. But the classes are taking place Pacific Standard Time.
The major question for me is will my 1.5Mbit poop internet connection be any good here? Never brought anything from CA before but wanna try this, is there any way for me to download the sessions to watch at my will?
Obviously I can't provide any official answers, but I do know that they recommend a "standard broadband connection" for the streaming classes. I just don't know what that implies numerically.
As for the 'watch at will' problem, 'on demand' sounds like the perfect solution. All of the classes will be available for on demand streaming as soon (or close to it) as the class ends. This means you can miss a class and watch it later, or watch it again if you saw it and want to review. However, if you watch it on demand, you won't have the benefit of live chat with the class and instructor.

Just bought the full five weeks. The first few weeks of school will be so busy and awesome. I can't wait to see the new content coming in the next two weeks as well.
The new website is sick as well.
Right, well to be honest, seems almost too good to miss, I might as well ask Jason outright, if my internet screws me, am I eligble for a refund?
What is the portfolio reviews week about? Do you give out assignments throughout the 4 weeks then on the 5th they get reviewed?
Thank you for your time
Purchased the full 5 weeks, and I cannot wait for this to begin. This is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you...
will the classes be mostly lecture based, or will there be assignments to go along with the classes? It seems like for the structure of the schedule that this will be mainly a lecture based course, however, there is one assignment noted in the 2nd week.
Maaaaan i wasn't sure, but now i bought the whole package......whhhaaaaa i'm pretty excited about that.
My biggest problem is that i'm too digital and i really would love to get introduced more into traditional media. Also can't wait for the entertainment classes.
thanks to CA, massive black and the Atelier
There will be certain assignments for the classes. The best way to learn is by doing right?
Portfolio review week is exactly as advertised...you will get your portfolio reviewed by the professional faculty and get input on the direction you wish your work to go. These are really great as you get to hear the truth about your work and get constructive input directly, on improving your work.
We will have technical support to assist those who have issues. This system we use for our classes works on my wifi just fine. It will work on average internet connections. If not we will handle each case individually.
There was a good question about the difference between TAD and the VLP.
The Visual Literacy Program is the new subscription forums which we are bringing to conceptart.org. Inside are a host of great video tutorials from guys like George Pratt, Jon Foster and others, as well as a professional crit and sharing forums which have a lot of information being shared that won't be found anywhere else. It is available now and gets you access to more info than can be found here on CA or anywhere else. If you want to get info that will help you improve your portfolio, get scholarships, prep for college or that new job, the VLP is a great way to start. The community asked for subscription forums as a way to support the site so we went out and brought in the best one out there. visit www.visualliteracyprogram.com for more info.
The Art Department is the full deal. It is a career driven 30 month art education program led by instructors that lead their fields. You can read all about here www.theartdepartment.org
You can fit it all in, I have no doubt. Axe and hour of sleep and better time manage and you are good to go. You do not have to watch it live, no. You will get the info you need if it is live or On Demand. If you have questions you want asked and cannot be there we will have threads for those good questions so you can ask before class begins and then the teachers can read them off as class ends, so you can get questions answered even if you cannot be there.
On Demand will be up for 30 days as usual.
This sounds great. Unfortunately my semester just started so I don't have time to do this.
Re: To people asking about if it will be worth the time and effort because their daily life is already full.
I am graduating in May with a degree in Biology and in order to graduate in May so I can attend TAD, I have to take 22 credit hours. Not chump classes either, senior level biology classes and I'm a taking medical illustration class and I'm doing an internship.
However, I did not hesitate to sign up for Discovery because the information is priceless to me. I am off to a late start and I need all the help I can get. I won't just be missing 1 hour of sleep a night, I will probably get 2-4hrs of sleep a night for the entire month.
My wednesday schedule begins at 7:15 in the morning when I wake up and is followed by class from 8:30->2:15, then I have to do drawings of fungi until 5, followed by molecular biology until 7. Then I have to drive across town and meet with my internship boss from 7:30->9. Then I finally get to go home, eat and watch 3hours of the On Demand classes.
I know this is a bit of a rant, but If I can do it... anyone can. Just buckle down and know that you can watch the videos over the weekend if your week is too busy and it overflows.
tldr: Life is tough and can be super busy. This opportunity is priceless, work your ass off and it will just be another chapter in your life. Hopefully a great chapter.
One thing though, have you considered maybe having a set date for the OnDemand material to be cut off rather than the 30 days? The reason I ask is because this is quite different to things you've done in the past where the event consisted of just the one lecture. This is 4 intense (for those of us working anyway!) weeks of almost daily lectures, and by the time we get to the last lecture, 30 days from the first lecture will have elapsed, meaning we don't get the chance to rewatch them.

I'm thinking Materials for the introductory course will be covered in the beginning of the coarse. Am I wrong or is there something I've overlooked?
How much content is covered in each lecture? How will the lecturers deal with the problem of condensing so much information into so small a time frame?
Just signed up for the whole 5 weeks.
There was talk about there being a limited number of spots for the live-view lectures. I got no confirmation in the payment and confirmation process that I was eligible for the live-views.
How will I now if I made it in time?

Ahh man, don't have the time for this atm, damn being enrolled on another art course... seems bloody amazing though, do a DVD of the lessons for those who wish to buy them afterwards!!
