alien planet sketch. trying to apply some knowledge from that last enviro study to my work from memory.
Robert.B - thanks for stopping by again man!! i will do my best!
quick character design. loosely based off of an old character of mine. this guy is a street fighter type of character, a champion MMA fighter, who also is a gambling addict, and addicted to illegal street fights.
hey man your stuff is really looking better and better keep it up
Hrm, I notice this more with your shirtless characters but you often flatten out the stomach/chest area, the guy here seems like he's about as thick as slightly skinny person when he should be bulging from the muscles right? its not as noticeable on this one but it is prevalent in others.
I guess I'd just say to define the shadows around the edges of the sides, so that the chest is more of a rounded oval than an elipse if that even makes sense.
Im talking from what I've seen and not my own skill here so I might be totally wrong ^^;
Like that character in post 1622, confidence in that one!
I'd love to see that alien/animal character rendered in profile or 3/4 view, animals can be tough when you're looking straight on, tough not to let them flatten out.
The apple study's coming along too...I prefer painting in Painter, more pliable with the media as you're mixing colors as you would be traditionally. But photoshop can do it too, just more additive...besides, you've been cranking out color already!
The street fighter ultimate grinder guy is looking
rough and tough. He will be smashing skulls with his
roundhouse and axe kick in not time. He has already
prsnsweeney - thanks man!!
rumpenstiltzkin - not so much lately, but thanks dude!
RBeek - thanks man!
Medusoid - no, i see what you mean. i try to flatten out certain areas a little more than others, so that every muscle group doesnt become an obvious protruding bulge. i used to do that alot, and it started to look weird, i am still working on it. trying out different methods.
xbert - thanks man!!
Partisan - thanks bro! trying to bang out some more studies.
Mike L - thanks man. yea, animals are still very tough for me. gotta work on some more studies, maybe map out some anatomy from different animals. yea, im not really feeling photoshop for coloring, but i have to use it for this class im in. . . oh well, just more practice i guess.
AlexTooth - noooo! haha, you dont want to learn it like this, i need to work on more studies myself.
LtPlissken - haha yes, his axe kicks are brutal!! and hes sweating because i sweat. alot.
Mr. Corlan - haha sadly... no. school work has got me going crazy.
i wish i had a legitimate update, and feel dirty just posting this crap scribble. but, school has got me pulling my hair out, and unfortunately it doesnt look like its about to slow down. im doing a full class load, plus two internships where i have signed NDA's and cant show anything, ALSO ive been asked to do a mini comic to help out the seniors for their senior project. so yea, lots of stuff on my plate at the moment. hopefully ill be able to get some stuff done for myself once in a while too.
Nice, it seems that you're getting better and better every day, want to see (even) more ! cheers mate
AustenFM - oh yes. my fingers are in many many pies right now. i wish they tasted better though. and yea, about this figure here, ive been looking at Zurdom's sketches alot lately, love his style. so i basically re-sketched one of his guys. put some color on it too.
Mr. Corlan - thats true man. and im working hard as hell at the moment, so i believe it will pay off as well. just dont know when haha.
Egg0 - thanks! that means alot, thanks for dropping by!
here is the character i designed for my class on digital painting for video games. gotta do some ortho views, and a back view now. but first im gonna paint this guy up all purrrty.
man you if push those highlights a little bit ...
it will bump bump your character xD especially in the face
I really loved the color of the skin and the pants.
some time ago I read a book that said something like this
" The light cuts everything like a knife and what is in the
light will be bright. The shadows should be misterious and soft."
it was a book about davinci art XD

Fernteixeira - yea i understand ya! my ninja english is veeery good. haha, i should do some material studies because i tend to over-highlight everything, like its wrapped in plastic or something... thats why ive been trying to tone down the highlights lately.
