i really like where your last 2 paints are going, keep working on them!!
Study, study. Do as many different types of studies as you can—gestures, timed, from photos, from life, master copies, etc. Intersperse those with sketches from imagination. That will tell you how much you've absorbed and also keep art fun. Stay with it, work hard and you'll go a long ways.
Lav - Thanks. I will most surely finish the latest personal painting.
Traveler - Thanks for stopping by! Yeah I do a lot of different studies, I just tend to focus more on things I'm very bad at. Recently I've been doing a lot of anatomy but I don't post everything.. maybe I should. Thanks for the comment!
This is a photostudy I started but had to end cause I had to go somewhere and I forgot to save the reference
And here's a old masters study I started today, going to keep working on that later.
I have some cutscenes to work on now!
Cool works!! Like the two life studies on the previous page, keep doing those! Remember when your defining forms to really think about the basic shape of it and how the light is going to hit it, where the shadows will fall, reflected light, etc. Don't want your forms looking flat.
Keep it up dude!
hey thanks for dropping by i really like your studies - yourselfportrait is cool too , keep it up
Lav: Thanks! Yeah I haven't actually done too many sketches lately. All my stuff is mostly digital and all the sketches I do for paintings are extremely loose.
Artofinca: Thank you!
Morten: Sure thing. Thanks man.
This is a painting I did for me and my girlfriend's anniversary + christmas gift. So it's getting a bit old but I wanted to show it.
I want to see some very realistic ones.
Vatsel: Oh I do them, once a week. I haven't recently cause things have come in the way ): I'll try to do them as often as before. I'll do the mirror thing next time
miycko: Yeah hopefully they will Thanks for the comment
Zerdon: lol sorry for the disappointment
no87: Thanks, will do!
Recently I've been dry on updates, sorry ): I've been at my friend's place and we went watching Alice in wonderland and I haven't got stuff done over there. I kinda lost my motivation when I got home, weird. Trying to get back to it now. I'll be doing as many studies as I can today and post them as long as I like them.
Lav: The movie was very inspiring, i think it's more because I didn't follow my usual art schedule when I was away. So I haven't been drawing or anything for 3 days. And, I will never stop doing art
Here's some stuff from today.. it actually got me going again.
Did those while listening to dave's stream;
Hey man good to see you working on those studies!
Head to body proportion looks odd.
On the last one, it seems the construction is off and the design in itself is not really functional or complex. Looking at some weird ref while painting might help, but the surest way is to study animals.
Build the form from basic shapes like cubes and spheres first and make sure you see how the form works in perspective. only then focus on applying the colors/values.
Anyway, you're doing the right stuff and you're on the right track, good luck.
I've been drawing a lot of crap today and realized I really need to work on my gestures cause I feel so unsure whenever I start drawing some pose.
So these are from imagination but I'll make stuff from photos/real life tomorrow.
Oh yeah and I missed my lifedrawing class today ): sucks.. my transportation died.

i think your gesture studies look really good!
but the paint in post 144 looks strange, it could use more value in it and define the structure more. It suddenly changes from brown to blue, is it another part of its body or not, it isnt clear. If it is, try putting the same type of texture of skin (or scales or feather or whatever) to it. Make it more interesting by adding details and defining its general shapes more
Great anatomy updates tho
Lav: Thanks - yeah I'm not too happy with it either, but I'm not going back to it since the person I made it for is happy with it.
I've been sketching in my sketchbook today and I'm not able to scan anything right now so this is the only thing I have to show at the moment.
Going to develop these later.
