Several hundred years have come to pass since a man claiming to be a rat-catcher came to the town of Hamelin. He was promised a fee for ridding the town of the infestation, so he played out a magical song on a pipe, and drowned all of the rats in the Weser River. However, the town failed to pay the piper for his deed, so he took all of the children away.
Please note: This game should not be confused with Aveline: Epilogue of a Pied Piper for PC. The PC game is a puzzle-adventure, where the console game will actually be an RPG. The story lines are similar, but they will have different art and mechanics.
We are currently working on porting a game to the Genesis / Megadrive, a platform that was abandoned by Sega and is currently being used by independent developers. This project is inspired by recent releases such as Beggar Prince and Pier Solar.
We are searching for pixel artists on a volunteer basis. This is because we anticipate that we will lose money on the project, however our excitement in being able to release a game on console is worth any loss of revenue for us. In the event that we are not able to port the game to a console, it will be released as shareware instead. We hope that our volunteers will be able to provide us with one tileset. We won't be providing internships for this project because we won't actually be teaching people how to make tiles, though we can provide existing online tutorials from other sites as references.
Some people will wonder, "Why should I work for free?"
We want to respect people's time which is why we plan to only accept one map per person. The benefits that we are able to provide are:
-Your name will be credited on a published title.
-You'll have a chance to work on an original project that is interesting. You'll also be able to get experience on the game production pipeline.
-You have a chance to work with an established indie/casual developer in the industry. We may be able to provide you with a referrel or leads based on our affiliate network. We have many friends looking for pixel artists, so it is also an opportunity to expand your network.
-It's also a foot in the door to potential future contracts with us, but of course we cannot promise a position nor any future work.
Please use the "Contact Us" link at our homepage if you would be interested in bringing our project to life.
