i rarely come across a painting or digital painting so realistic it looks like a photo.. if everyone from the masters to the digital artist today are studying how light skin and everything looks and all the rules and stuff how come nothing ever looks photorealistic?
everything looks stylized even if its attempthing to look as real as possible.. i have seen some that look like photos but its rare.
plus they often use reference or copy their model and it still doesn't look photorealistic. what gives?
does that mean thers alot of leeway (spelling?) in realistic rendering, and u dont have to be photorealistic even if ur going for it
