Wow...can't believe it took me this long to finish lol. Two days left till submission deadline XD. I started this quite a while ago (like literally half a year ago), but between classes & work didn't get the chance to finish it.
So here it is! Done with acrylics on canvas (20x24). I wish I had a better camera though ^^0. bronze paint used to accentuate the eyes and masks.
"shinjitsu ga nan desu ka?" ; what is the truth? - the title of this painting and itself deals with the questioning of the truth, and oneself. What is the truth behind a person? What is a person's true face? That is where the Noh masks come into play. From left, the Hannya, Ko-omote, and the mask of devotion to a loved one (not sure of the name for this one). In short the truth giving birth to a new self or rather the real self.
So my entry for the New Born contest is revolving around Noh and Kabuki theatre. (Too much of a dosage on watching Otogizoushi, Onmyouji & Mononoke ^-^) N e ways since some seem to unaware of the fact that my subject is a male dancer, I'll make that clear now. lol. I'm facinated with the Japanese Kabuki theatre and the feminization of the male in general in Japanese pop culture. (very much the eye candy for fangurls like me lol)
Hope you guys like this one! let me know what you think ^^
