just had to post this, some childhood nostagia
This is my current obsession, Pretty Lights
They are from colorado composed of a producer and live drummer
they are THE dirtiest, funkiest, nastiest, rip your face off, make you wanna dig yourself in the ground and get down with all the roots, soulful succulent sampling, badassiest, yummy nummy bass face inducing, heart opening, WHAT THE FUCKing, best shit ever.
I've been to many shows, moshpits, dance parties...and i get down pretty hard and have been for a long time.....but i've never left a concert more drenched in my life, my pants were soaked, my hair was dripping....oh yeah and they do live up to their name at their live shows bring yo 3D glasses!
and they provide all their music for free on their website
yum face sauce
thee are some really great music link in this thread,
here is an amazing Mix that one of my favorite DJ Brion Charles made,
this was the mix that he played at the Liminal Rez opening show and he was kind enough to record it and share it with us.
next time you are about to sit down at the drawing table and want something chill and beautiful to guide your creativity then load this up press play and enjoy!!
I'm not done listening to it, but this Brion mix is waaaaay better than the one you put in your first post, Android.
Want to see someone become a master? (My Sketchbook)
Thanks for this thread andrew and everyone else for sharing!!! Here are some that I'm enjoying recently, check them out!!!
Rock / Psychedelic/ Trance
Stars on the lid
They also have some interesting video trailers on there myspace.
Expermental/ Indie/ Other
The Crepe Hangers
Cool Glad your digging on the Brion music, i think this is one of his best yet, but im impartial
Yautja892- great links man the lead singer of Ka nal is a friend of mine, he performs in Adam freelands live project as well, great combo
not sure if ive posted this one before but It deserves t o be posted again,
this is I-Awake, he is basically responsible for the current soundtrack of my life for the past few months,
he has 4 out of this world mixes posted on his soudcloud account
if you watch any of my upcoming downloads, streams or Phadroid performances you will also find some of his tracks,
lets keep the tunes coming guys, the music that is being produced all around the world right now is so good it needs to be shared.
Eric Brosious' System Shock 2 music
Immense thank you goes out for all the great music in this thread
Of all my addictions, Aural stimulation is my favourite. its gotten to the point where if I am unable to hook up to some earpiece or soundsystem, my mind naturally starts making beats, harmonies and vocal lines from the background noise that litters my day to day consciousness...
I'm also excessively eclectic.
Most recently my life's soundtrack is made up of these artists
THEM CROOKED VULTURES - Rock
Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones rockin' out. They had their entire album up on youtube, but I guess they took it down after a couple days... so now theres only teasers
PROXY - Electro / Techno / Experimental
For the late night slave marches through the trenches of my imagination.
For example, a video chock full of juicy soviet footage
BONOBO - Downtempo
Great tunes by a great guy. All around great. I like him a lot - his music is perfect for chill artistic inspiration, or candelit dinner seduction.
RJD2 - Hiphop / Electronica
This guy has some funky beats that have served well to put my mind into a state of workshop readiness... His style has changed a lot over the years, and I find that his first album "Deadringer" is my favourite...
THIEVERY CORPORATION - Electronica / Dub / Psychedelic
Truly amazing. If you ever have the chance to see them live, don't pass it up. Massive collaboration between many musicians from all over the world...
BEAST - Experimental / Trip Hop
Straight from montreal, if you listen to any of Champion's works you will recognize Betty Bonifassi's vocal lines...
UNKLE - Electronica / Experimental / Alternative
Produces all kinds of music is collaboration with different singers/songwriters. I'm currently listening to his album "War stories" quite a bit.
RODRIGO Y GABRIELA - Acoustic / Folk Rock / Metal
Mexican Duo extraordinaire! fast paced. acoustic covers. etc.
also not to be missed:Amon Tobin, RŲyksopp, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Ez3kiel, Herbalizer, edIT, Massive attack...
I'm gonna stop now.... hope someone connects with something I posted!
also just cause I don't understand it at all --->
Helix 42 is one of my favourite local djs. I don't think he produces his own tracks, but his mixes are full of great stuff.
I've also been listening to a lot of Knowa Knowone...
I discovered another!
One of my favorite newest (ish) discoveries... An incredible band called The Pax Cecilia wrote and recorded Blessed are the Bonds in 2007 and released it over the internet entirely for free! Apparently, when it was first released, you could email the band and they'd send you a physical copy for absolutely no cost, not even shipping!
Genre-wise it's Avant-garde Post-Rock/Metal. It's a bit similar to motW actually.
hm last night was
The Bunny Hop
an pole dancing to pachelbels canon, it wwas an interesting party
To see the world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.
Ńgśtis Byrjun by Sigur Ros is a good track.
They also have some other good musiks -
http://www.superadmusic.com/god/ - been listening to them for a few years, and their Post-Rock genre has influenced some of my artwork.
http://www.blacksunempire.com/ - Two really good dj's who produce the DnB genre out of Utrecht, Netherlands.
Those are part of my life, but Ńgśtis Byrjun is the Soundtrack of my Life.
here is another huge music score
a friend of mine named Dee who performs under the name Sweet Anamoaly
put this free mix out in celebration of the winter solstice
here is his listening intention for you
hallo my friends
it is the darkest day of the year
i am thinking of you all
the night has fallen
and i imagine where you all may be
my hope is that you are happy and healthy
i invite you to listen to a compilation of music for these moments
it is like nothing you would have heard from me in any of my dj sets
more of an ambient blend than a dancefloor mix
for quiet times
deep into the winter
deep into the night
with music by
rafael anton irissari
bright black morning light
and scout niblet
for your listening pleasure
i invite you to listen to it with someone you love

-around the world in a tea daze
-star shpongled banner
-when shall i be free

you can find a bunch of there stuff on grooveshark as well
This is a California based DJ, hes also an artist and flash god... we've been friends for a long time and I've always enjoyed his mixes. Eric Jordan.
he has quite a few releases, 40 I believe. I dont think he releases anymore, which is a shame, but he has a wife to think about now so i understand.
Please enjoy, I know I do.

^ That's an awesome album.
Here are some free tribute albums that feature some amazing bands (and are tributes to amazing bands...):
"Old Crown, New Spawn":
a triple tribute devoted to Emperor/Arcturus/Ved Buens Ende
(THREE albums worth of material for free!)
My Own Wolf: A New Approach
a tribute to Ulver
Some Instrumental Hiphop > hundreds of 1-3 minute beats. free to download.
The artist is J. DePina
Here's my contribution, I absolutely love this music:
”lafur Arnalds - Found Songs
I'd call the style calm, classical, subtle, emotional ( I'm not really familliar with the typical music categories )
You can download all the songs in 128 kbps MP3 format for free on this page: http://foundsongs.erasedtapes.com/ (right click-> save as on "I", "II", etc.)
EDIT: two more free albums:. Go to http://ddc.erasedtapes.com/ and fill in 'MY-FREE-ERATP020' and your e-mail, and 'MY-FREE-ERATP010' and your e-mail.. gives you two albums which are quite nice.
