Thanks for the hug :>
Got commissioned to draw a horse <_<
Aaaand, a sketch I'm working on. Mock-up movie poster.

really nice work, I particularly like your tree composition with the steps on the previous page. The latest enviro looks cool, really bring that light source up so we can see what he's looking at
+ 5000 cool points for Odayga and Arenyth for being awesome
Just thought I'd throw this out real quick;
I'm planning a move to Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. If there are any studies hiring or possible freelance, I'm interested!
I'm glad you like it NickyBeats!
Update on the poster, pay attention to the negative spaces.
I've implied hawk like forms in the menacing eyes as well.
I'm still unsure about both colour and the wings though.
More work on the poster and a warm up sketch based on Atomhawk Designs Logo.
It's just a joke.
Just nitpicking right now, looking for a solid way to display the atom and uh.. it's a bit too bright yeah?
I'm reading this book called "Discworld: The colour of magic", I'm only 26pages in and I got inspired to draw this encounter from the book. I hope it gets better in terms of inspiration!
Ste, I've applied there tons of times. I can't remember if they ever replied
I'm totally interested though, working for them would be ace considering the location.
ChoW work in progress, not sure if I want to do this one or not but I was having fun drawing her

Ixallus - Cheers man, I'm quite excited myself to see where I go with it cause I have no idea myself. Maybe I'll leave it with just a white background or maybe I'll find a scene for it? I dunno
What I'm more excited about is my new sketch for the Atomhawk contest. I just can't look at my old idea and honestly think I did a half decent job. What was I thinking?! Hehe.
Here's the new sketch
The photo in the second one is just a placeholder, will get rid of it.
The new atomhawk poster looks much better. I have a few suggestions that I will try to explain. I get the feeling that the wing is a tad too much horizontal which I feel takes away some energy. The hawk could also have its body angled more diagonal and be placed a bit further up.
I am unsure about the narrative of the piece. Why is he holding his hand in such a manner and so on? I get that he is a pretty cool guy and likes hawks. Maybe that is sufficient.
I looked at some of your other work too and I think you have some strong artwork both in terms of subject and execution.
alexson - tackar!
Bergulf - I'll look into the wing, I have been pondering about the myself. Right now I'm working on everything except that as the wing and the eyes will most likely take the least amount of time. I'm wondering how I can get it to be more dramatic without making the wing bigger. I really don't want it to outplay everything else.
Hehe, the hawk isn't done yet and I know what you're talking about, don't worry.
As for the narrative, it's a bit vague I guess. The topic was even more so. "Create a movie poster about the title Atomhawk" I just instinctively thought Super hero. I'm adding an emblem in his palm so that the pose will make a bit more sense.
Right guys, now that I've decided on the composition I thought I'd share with you some of the voodoo crap that's going on in it.
What's happening is that the city is pointing and bringing your eyes upwards, the building right behind the hawk is pretty much an obvious arrow pointing at our hero.
Humans focus on eyes, faces and hands by default and to further bring that into my painting in terms of composition I've done a bit of selective detailing on those areas.
The face and hand has a little bit of more rendering than the city or his legs to attract attention.
Same goes for the hawk, had I left the head sketchy and went crazy on its wings you'd have looked at the wings rather than the head. Some basic composition theory for you.
The negative space wing is probably the most obvious part so far, it's practically a bunch of arrows that yell at you "LOOK THAT WAY!"
Composition can never be 100% correct. The area of focus is always in the eyes of the beholder, as a painter I can only try to manipulate your eyes to go where I want them.
Here's an image to visually explain what I'm on about.
Ok, back to rendering!
Thanks John Silva!
So, today is my birthday. And it has been really, really great. Most likely because of my girlfriend and the gifts she gave me
I'm so not used to this stuff :>
Any who, I figured I'd be nice and do something as well so I painted this picture in roughly 7hours and saved steps along the way.
Also, final image of the Atomhawk. I tried playing around with the hawk but I really couldn't find a position or action that I liked better.
Thanks Jessibelle, glad you like it!
Two new drawings, a sketch for a future painting,
and a quick concept art drawing, depicting a scene from a dream I had.
The sketch took maybe 20minutes? A lot of errors in there but I sketched it down just to get an idea of what I wanted, thought it was decent enough to post
The concept drawing took about 2½ hours, I was multitasking at the same time.
