My sketchbook thread, because I need to get some feedback on some of my thought-flow stuff. Maybe. Whatever. Maybe I just want some attention.
Maybe I'm just a slackass. Either way.
Now, a little about me if you're curious.
Born in Asheville, North Carolina, I have spent my entire life in the Appalacian Mountains. I was raised in Marion, North Carolina, and lived there until I attended the North Carolina School of the Arts. I attended NCSA, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, until 2003. I currently live in just outside of Asheville, North Carolina with my loving husband, five cats, and one dog.
A fan of all genres of artwork, I have studied at several private studios in Asheville. My favorite artists include Derek Hess, Skjoldbroder, Carter Reid, and Mark Iradian. In my artistic career I have generally tried to give people the benefit of the doubt and have attempted to create art that isn't "the norm." However, reading that statement and understanding it requires that you understand that styles like Dali and Warhol are "the norm" of the so-called art scene. Nevertheless, this urge to create art that isn't the standard gallery fodder is proably why I have not been more successful in my career, coupled with the unfortunate demise of the original gallery that hosted my work. However, that is a story that I have put far too much detail into in many other places, and in the interest of moving on, I will move on.
Moreso than art, I am an avid videogamer. Both PC Gaming and gaming on all sorts of Nintendo consoles has probably taken more time than I have available. I am a fan of First Person Shooters, RPGs, and strategy games.
My primary field of study is Fine Art. I received a Diploma of Completion with special focus on Visual Art from the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where I focused on illustration with some design classes interspersed. After taking a year off after graduation, I attended classes at Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, and received my Associates Degree in Fine Arts. I plan to transfer to the University of North Carolina, where I will continue to study Fine Art, primarily illustration, storyboarding, and various other classes. I worked on group projects for most semesters, as well as by myself, on projects including Atladean web game, and murals on the A-B Technical campus.
