i wish i could have talent like you.
love ur stuff......the progression of the angel is sweet.......i must keep an eye on you =)
Seems like every time I make an update it starts with "Sorry about the absence". Not cool of me. Not to make excuses, but 80 hour work weeks and post-graduation moodiness did me in. Need to get this thing back on track. Thank you very much for all the comments though.
Anyways, here are a few drawings, finished and unfinished:
Let me know if you'd like to see any of these finished up. Or any general crit you might have of course
I've always liked your avatar.
LOL... the last one in your latest update's got an intense look on her face... highly rendered eyes, and elongated face. Nice one. When I have a few moments I'll check your whole book... see how the Liffey Life has been.
looking good man, thnx for that link to the portraits will have to spend a weekend painting all thise faces then I'll be set, haha! You Cow creature was also wicked, but I feel deprived becasue only the face shows up well, guess that's expected with deep sea creatures! Keep up the good work dude!!!
Thanks Rob! Yeah that was kind of a bad plan putting it in such a dark environment.. oh well, hopefully looks somewhat cool anyways.
Here are sketches/studies from the last few days. Back to Loomis, drawing from my beautiful new Figure Drawing for All Its Worth book! Was a bit shocked at how bad some of my drawings were... been way too long since I hit the books :<
Aight man I just went through and checked it all out as promised... nothin like the Liffey life.
Here's what I'm feeling... structure would give you the most benefit. You sort of hint at structure; but I feel you work could use more solidity which would then provide more opportunities to accurately render, and so on.
Really great style and concepts! The sb pages are full of promises man!
I like the way you go from one style to another without problem!

loads of rad designs man adn great pics, love this http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1284246397
you have a really great sketchbook. Lots of variety to keep me entertained!
so, new years! i'm guessing the sketchbook forum will be super busy for a couple weeks, lol
here are a couple wips, long ways to go on each
and a character which i'm not sure if is salvagable
First page of a graphic novel I am in beginning stages of, it’s called HOAX… it will be in color, but this opening dream sequence is in b&w… there will be lots of monsters in this book, some cuddly and some hungry
“Sunny”, a main character from my Liberty East story (that and Hoax are the two I’m working on). He’s a mysterious fellow who appears and gives the main character powers. Why does he do that? …Well you can read the story when i’m done

Thanks mate! Really appreciate that
Here's more progress from that skeleton armor lady.. actually forgot about it for a month but I want to finish it today, that's my goal

There's some nice stuff in here. (I particularly like the self-portrait on the previous page with the blue lighting -- did you have a blue light to ref for that or was that from imagination? Really nice color contrast!)
You seem to have a decent handle on values/colors, I also really like your pencil stuff. (Something I need to do more of!) Kudos!
If I had to nitpick at anything, I feel like the piece with the falling/tangled angel is feeling a bit cramped compositionally -- if it were me, I'd extend the canvas slightly downward to play up the feeling of her just hanging there? Or maybe extend the top and the piece of fabric she's dangling from? (Not sure which would be a better option.)
Also, the environment a page back with the cloudy sky and the brownish/dead grass was looking really cool - you said you weren't sure what to do with it, I think darkening the sky a little further behind the rubble/rock off to the right side would really make that area sing (especially if you punch up the highlights on the rocky area a bit) because the values look kind of close right now and the whole area is kind of mushing together the farther off to the right you go. Not anything too crazy, but just slightly. (Don't want to steal focus from the awesome lighting coming through that structure / grass area!)
You progress shot of the skeleton armor lady isn't showing for me. (I just see the dreaded little-blue-box-with-a-questionmark instead. XD) Maybe the site is being weird at the moment..
Keep up the great work!
Hey thx for stopping by in my sketchthingie. You got some good stuff going on with fresh colours Like a few said already, rework the angel piece a bit more. There's some wonky stuff in the hands and legs going on and a wider crop of the canvas wouldn't hurt either. It has tons of potential to be teh superawesomnez though, so get on it
Awesome work so far... you definitely have a grasp on painting and 3D. Your variance is what really show in these pieces so far.
I'll crit more on each post as I see 'em.
You have some really creative moster designs here.
Yeah I can't really say anything else either aside from subscribed and your really really good!.
Really nice stuff, love the colors and the skull armor design! Seeing the progress you made in 2 years really gives me some hope for my own personal schedule. I looked at the last page first and i was really impressed, not saying your old stuff is bad, its just an impressive progression!
Thanks, that's encouraging to hear. I feel like I'm barely progressing, lol.
Here's something I worked on a bit yesterday. I really have no idea where it is going, which is kind of nice sometimes

I'm not the good with crits but I'll give it my best
First of all I like the compostion you have in your work only problem is
some of them need some more in the picture to explain more of the story its feels kind of empty
but overall its a good sb
Everything is permitted
That last piece is fun! (I like the expression on the face, the rendering on it is nice too.) I think if you pop some really intense highlights on there, the piece will really jump to a finished look. (Like, on the eyes, for instance, to give them a bit more life. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you could darken the piece slightly with a multiply layer and add some rim lights to some of the edges to really make the figure pop out.) Nice job so far. ^_^
