One environmental concept and one more finished scene. Practice for no-photo-textures environment painting. The second was influenced by the works of Ralph McQuarrie, Keith Parkinson and Vincent Segrelles.
Ralph McQuarrie, Keith Parkinson and Vincent Segrelles... I have books entitled "The Art of..." each of those guys. They are all fantastic, but I have to say McQuarrie is my favorite, followed by Parkinson, and then Segrelles (whose work doesn't look as polished or detailed as the first two--but I guess he's in more of a hurry since he does graphic novels rather than Star Wars production art or fantasy book covers). In any event, I would love to see you do more works influenced by their styles. Maybe someday I'll have a book called "The Art of Andreas Rocha" to display proudly on my bookshelf.
Great work on these, and I can see the stylistic influences you mention in the second piece.
My favorite is the first one...would you mind explaining some more about how you went about achieving the no-photo textures?
Not only is the rocky landscape marvelous, but the the soft sky with those little puffs of wispy clouds is downright poetic IMHO.
