This is my first time submitting art, so I wasn't sure what to go with. I have over 100 things in my deviantART gallery, but practically NONE of it is actually serious art. Heck, most of it is fanart. The stuff that I WOULD consider appropriate to post on this site is mostly unfinished. But here are two different pieces of the same character(s).
Mind you, both of these were done on Tegaki (Here and here, respectively), but, ironically, these are two of the best pieces of 100% ORIGINAL work I've done lately. My art program and my tablet are having a disagreement, so until I get it working, I'll be using other means of producing work (Flash, Tegaki, etc.).
This piece is called "Beneath a Crimson Sky"
It started as an experiment in skyscapes and clouds and whatnot, as well as an experiment with the new opacity tool on Tegaki. I finished the background with no clue what I was going to do for the foreground, but I eventually decided to put a new (and still nameless) character in it, riding on the most exotic mount I've created so far: a Wyr. This Wyr's name is Arden, by the way. Anywho, new character design and a background! This, coming from ME, who HATES doing backgrounds.
This piece is called "Respite," for lack of a better title. T_T
It ALSO started as another experiment with opacity in creating skyscapes and scenery, because I liked the way "Beneath a Crimson Sky" turned out and wanted to mess around even more with skies. I tried to create a more realistic perspective, this time, so the clouds aren't forming a halo around the moon as they were around the sun the first time. I tried to do something with atmospheric perspective by giving the distant forest/mountains a blue/grey haze. I'm not sure what's creating the lightshow beneath the clouds; it's NOT an aurora, but the world setting I've tentatively created for these pieces is a fantasy setting, so it's definitely something magical. Maybe a fight in the clouds? Fire? A concealed floating city? I still struggle with landscapes and getting the perspective right, but I hope you can tell that the character(s) in the foreground are atop a high cliff or bluff of some sort, overlooking the sea, with a shoreline visible on the left. It's the same two characters from before, the nameless man and Arden.
