holy shit your environments are amazing and your colours
daaaang i am definitely subscribing to this it's so inspiring
That last piece is awesomely sweet keep it up
nice sketchbook you have here man, love the colors and brushstrokes!
This is one of the most impressive sketchbooks evAr, your environments rock but your characters are also just as good, you should do them more often.
That being said I'm really jealous, I suck balls at environments and no matter how much I motivate myself to try to do them I continue to suck. Cheers and good luck man!
Those are some amazing environments man, how long does one usually take to produce?
Sketch back if you'd like...
My Sketchbook:Struggling to become and Artist XD
adammelo Thanks alot!, im glad u like them, the latest piece the mountain with alot of fog, took quite a while to do actually, im not sure how many hours, but maybe 5-6 hours over two days, but it might be more hours too. But yeh I would says they do take quite some time to do just alot of problems to work out hehe.
Deon Cheers, glad u like it!.
n1va Oh thanks alot for your comment! I appreciate it alot, yeh I do enjoy painting and doing characters, my anatomy is abit lacking so my confidence is not as strong, but I will try to make more of them
Yeh I dont think environments are very easy ether, im not sure how many I have done and just hated them, I find having some reference on the side helps since there is just alot of stuff going on in environment, also starting the picture very simple, is something I find important, very few values, and try to block in the base.
Braintree Thanks alot!, yeh I have been pretty inspired from his work! I have seen it so mutch its hard not to get some similarity in it
LMK Thank you, im glad you enjoy it!
Holland Oh thanks alot!, yeh I guess there is some tiny progress hehe, atleast there is more time spend on them
Cacodaemonia Thanks alot!, yeh I wanted it to feel like there is alot of water in the air and very thick and hard to breath in.
Kuidf^! Ah cheers, Thanks alot! will do
Noro Cheers thank you! I will try to do some
Morgado Thanks alot! Yeh I might do some more of them, my old ones are getting abit old, but yeh my steps arent super special thats for sure. I think I could make steps from alot of my environments because I sort of saved all the layers, so I might do some of that with just pictures.
daveneale Cheers thanks alot!
conte Thanks you very mutch!
Nubb Thanks alot! im glad u like it
theories Hah wow thanks alot! im glad u digg it, I hope u will enjoy the stuff in the future!.
llex_paul Thank you!, yeh
Rushlord Thanks alot, im glad u like my environments!, as for how to make the edges harder than the "inside"
If you add the photoshop filter "unsharp mask" to your finished painting it will make your hard edges harder and soft edges doesnt get effected as mutch, and I tend to use unsharp mask alot because it also help showing the brush textures too, but I change the amount of unsharp mask I apply depending on the pictures texture, size and so on. Unsharp mask tend to make the edges with alot of contrast really stand out.
So that will make your edges seems crisper, another thing that can help is to use the lasso tool, so if you make a selection with it and than paint inside it with a brush, the edge around it will be sharp, quite usefull for painting stones and stuff.
Alot of comments, thanks alot for them!
Epic landscapes lately, just gets better and better!! keep em coming.
Alm0st Thanks alot!, yeh I will do for sure!
Pixie Trick Thanks alot Pixie!, glad you enjoyed them!, and to see you still around
retardedmonkey Thanks alot!, yeh I will try to keep them coming, hopefully make some cooler stuff.
Something for today, I got quite a few pictures to post, but I try to spread them out, instead of posting them all and then go emtpy:7
I hope the picture is not too small.
As for the picture, I was focusing on the caves silhouette shape, and some swirl motion going on in the sand, I think I could lose some stones here and there
to make it less messy, but I didnt wanna spend too mutch more time on it.
(edit) did some changes and cropped the image abit.

theres no more!!
grate grate stuff youd got
Nice! (Now for some crits that hopefully make sense. Ignore me if you wish... ) I think the composition on this one is a little weak. I'm not too sure where to look. You have the people, which are nicely pointing to the guy to the left, but then there is also the interesting line of the opening pointing to the left as well as that column in the bg, while there really is nothing towards the right (other than a low contrast very pretty sand waterfall ). Add to that the stream bed/path/light area that slants from the people off into the distance, just pulls everything off the page. I think cropping off some of the right would help balance it a little, but I may be wrong. O, and the reflected light would generally be more prominent further into the cave, as opposed to nearer to the opening. Anywhooo.... I like how you have clouds of sand in the bg, and as I said, the sand swirlies are pretty.
awesome stuff, love the top one! 5*****
zweiDee Heh thanks alot ! hopefully u like it even after the changes hah
Pixie Trick Thanks alot Pixie! all crits and point of views are very useful, I tried to make a few changes to the picture, also cropped what I felt was unnecessary, and overall removed alot of stones,
I also flipped the picture and enjoyed it more that way, anyway I just replaced the old picture in the post above with the new version.
I recived Edgar Payne composition of outdoor paintings book today so im gonna go read that.
R a n d i s Oh hi Randis!, Thanks alot im glad you like them!, I loved your entries for the conceptart contest, they were mindblowing!
EVOLU Thanks alot, thanks for checking it out!
Ricardo Robles Cheers, hehe im glad you like it
theories Thanks alot, yeh its a pretty neat tool, tho I tend to use it more of a starting point to get more organic and random shapes, than I paint and adjusting them to my liking, sometimes they give abit too many hard edges
Was playing around with more dynamic perspective in this one.
