So i decided to leave render land for a short trip. I almost forgot how fun it is to get pretty sketchy.
Had to stop in and drop some love I'm feeling for your work Your landscapes are awesome. And your finished coronal looks like the guy from the SAW movies, I think he also played in an episode of stargate during the first season. Anyways, great work. Can't wait for more
This one was allot of fun. While playing with some custom brushes I have been trying to capture my lighting and palette with limited brush strokes. Getting closer but still have a little ways. I think I also gravitated towards this snow study because I am jones-in to get some snowboarding in this Season
Really love ur environment studies, u capture the mood very quickly and effectively. Jealous to be honest
great studies man, looks clean, which they should do when you do it right!
looking for freelance work & commissions!
palladium - Thanks for the kind words man! Funny you noticed the guy from saw. I tried to gear this character for film and reference an actor I thought might fit the bill. First I went with Sam Elliott untill someone brought up he was more fatherly looking than sinister. So Tobin Bell from Saw seemed like a good fit. Thanks for looking!
GEB - Thanks allot! lol much appreciated
Huey Yeng - Thanks, trying to keep on it!
tja88 - Thanks allot!
Friday night my wife's work held a great art auction for aids and breast cancer. This is a watercolor/gouache study I did of a 70's vader figure for it. While painting in the digital world for the last few years I have truly forgot how much fun and almost meditative traditional media is. Especially gouache. For whatever reason it pushes me to be more gestural and loose. Maybe that's because I am more focused on lighting vs. rendering? I started this piece with watercolors to block it in then brought out some of the values and colors with gouache. Here are some shots of the unframed finished painting and my simple setup.
Hopefully there will be some more gouache pieces coming up as Plein Air sessions are in the works
