just finished another dsg pic
here is the topic:
Sci-Fi: LUXURY YACHT'S SUPER-LOADED FANTASY JUMP-JET
nothing great. just a pile of custom brushe strokes
i promised to post a character for yesterday. forgot the picture i wanted to upload at the university so today i post this one. its a wip of a 'Vala' the northern version of a witch or priestess. one leg and a bunch of details are still missing (especially tatoos). she also looks too maya-esque at the moment. ill try to fix that. any ideas what i should add/change? how wrong am i concerning the anatomy?
btw the rod is supposed to be the horn of a narwal
tomorrow or the day after ill post the other char.
wow i really like your environments and you use of light. although i think your character designs are good, i would focus a little more time into anatomy, especially the proportions of the face and hands it seems like you have problems w/ those areas, but when you get that down your stuff is gonna be really great. awesome stuff though keep it up.
To live is to create, to create is to live. Without art and music, I do not know how I would get by in my day to day life.
Sweet dude, I can only do what every else is doing, and say practice anatomy, especially faces, I rip off this piece of knowledge, when I say a good face can make up for a lot.

my sketchbook is a work of art.
sorry that joke WAS horrible
thx for your repleys. iz always good to see someone visits my s-book
face and hands are the most important parts of a character and to me unfortunately the most difficult parts to draw. today my art teacher ripped the girl apart concerning anatomy and hairstyle (and pose). ill try to work out what i learned of it now.
here is the viking char i promised to upload. again some anatomy issues but i think better then the stuff i did before. his pose looks a bit unstable and his arms are too long and too thick
the second one is another speedpaiting using custom brushes (just 4 fun)
the last one is the tower for the art-crusade contest: Watcher and Watchtower. ill try to find some time to rework the watcher a bit and then post here.
Hey dude, thx for the comment!
I like your enviroments and how you use texture as a way to accentuate different plains. As for your figures: I like the way your detailing them but the anatomy seems more off that way, especially with the big viking dude in post 37.
thx 4 your repley pixel. anatomy is very complicated:-( i love to just paint all over the place and building up a working character anatomy always feels like it slows me down. not that im even able to do this right now:-). anyway here is a new envi i made this evening. this time i used a photo for color reference and started with colors rather with bw
hope ya like it
crits and comments welcome
thx 4 your repley dude
remember the wizard den on the big tree log from page 1? here is the interiour.
next drawing took about 4 hours but i spent some time making thumbnails and a stalagmite brush. inspired by chupakabras tank drawing (liked the blue ambient light vs orange spotlights ) you can scroll a bit to the right. didnt want to make it too small.
crit ruthlessly guys
here are some doodles i just did. tried to do some treant faces. oh well
the last one is supposed to be a warthog treant. i also made a stag-treant but without ref i just cant paint animals:-(
Hey there Piecemaker, your environmemts are fantastic, I hope with enough practice I`ll be able to do the same one day. (I think you`re viking anatomy is great.)
I like the colour schemes you use. Your monsters are fantastic.
thx for the repleys guys. colors and anatomy are the things im workin on right now. for the last envis (the forest and the cave) i used color-rich photos as a color palette rather than painting in bw and using color layers and gradient layers afterwards. the viking pose was made liberately after a reference pose. i think i still messed up the anatomy:-(
wow, what i liked the most is the way you handle scenery. Your concepts for that game in the first post really show the mood of each place. i will keep checking your work!
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race, and I ain't gonna lose.
thx for the repley lalo.
here is another one for the game Holmgang. its the final illustration for the wirzards den from the outside and should express the weird bended look from the interior through architecture.
the next few weeks ill have exams so i dont know wheter ill be able to upload new art all too soon. ill try though
wow, cool stuff, really like the last viking charcter dude thingy
you could work more on envos (though the last 3-4 once are kickass), and dont use David levys brushes, make ur onw u lazy basterd =P
hey i also use other artists brushsets:-). daakons, m@'s, barontieri's etc.
next thing (after exams) ill have a look at is painter. not yet tried out.
now these are pretty old comic-esque drawings inspired by frank miller. i did them for a half life 2 mod called virulent. we used the screen overlay feature of the source engine to display a couple of these comics before and after each level as some kind of cutscene. our project supervisor narrated the collateral text and did a great job at that.
doing them was fun but seing them today i have to pull myself together to even show em (the anatomy really sux )
hey hey im glad u found ur way to CA i think aslong as ur honest to urself and ur art everything is gona be fine from now on.
I like the progress u went through since we first met.
gl on ur road, i hope ours cross again with both of us working at what we love.
sorry for answering so late. the last couple of weeks very ultra time consuming. texturing, art, modeling, sculpting, photoshop, p300 and animation cessions and one art exam. thanks for your encouraging words. the world is too small to not meet each other again and i think we ll both stay devoted to art.
till then good luck pal
ill be off for holidays for two weeks from now on. so here is my last update for 2 weeks.
from the art crusade contest thing:
the river guardian at Thunderfalls Crossing
dogfight over Soulcrest Bridge, an aerial joust
unfortunately had no time to really finish the last one:-(
i'm really astonished by your art, really...everytime your images manage to surprise me and in this they make me feel like i'm part of it....a bit. The subtle colors and the way things are not trying to be perfect but just to be themself and thus to exist..to be real. When i saw the image you posted for the second battle of the art crusade i was really touched by the fact that you had characterized you character..beside it's look...you're probably not the only one..but when i read the description you posted under the image i really started to feel a bond with the character..and the same bond i can actually feel with the environments you posted here...=)
thanks very much for dropping in for a second pepps. im glad you like my artworks. actually there is nearly always a reason for the environments, (well at least the fantasy ones for the viking game) because they are needed in a context of the game. thats why they are usually
thanks very much for dropping in for a second pepps. im glad you like my artworks. actually there is nearly always a reason for the environments, (well at least the fantasy ones for the viking game) because they are needed in the context of the game. thats why they usually show the environment from a low angle and have a straight horizonline. I think my coloring skills are pretty meager. it always takes more time than i want to invest coloring a base bw artwork and im never happy with it in the end. well well.
FOR THE DARK SIDE
