you made a good improvment on those 100 hands ! more challenges like that and you'll be great in no time .
Thanks for the support guys
Danny_K: Thanks danny drawing more is the plan
Wanderer_: Thanks, trying to make them cleaner
Charmer: No problem, thanks for the support Force yourself, it's well worth it
Danny_K: Oh yeah I am fine with spending time on my art, it is mines after all and as long as there's no deadline it's fine, thanks
SMILEFACE: haha, thanks again
kikindaface: Thank you Walid I plan on doing a ton more
I put the time on my studies to help me track how long I've spent, that way I realize it's not really all that much time and I spend longer on the images. It's also so I can do a certain amount of drawing a day as a minimum
With these studies I am doing I am really trying to challenge myself by pushing whatever it is I am studying. Finishing, spending more time, doing complex things and weaknesses teaches me a lot

So many mistakes with this one:
Tried to push the rendering, was fun so I'll do more:

I usually rush figures but I decided no more of that, spent time on these trying to understand structure: Chronological order -
I do these daily, hands from memory trying to apply everything I learnt. Going to do a 100 of these as well. Definitely tests your knowledge
Did these life studies yesterday as well:
yesterday as well, this one killed me. Spent 3hours and a bit on it
I need to do more imagination stuff, sometimes I forget that all this studying is only for it, thanks for checking it out
your doing really well with all these studies
i'd just really watch your proportions, some of your figures heads are to big, some of the whole bodies are a bit wide (shoulders and such) just if you pay more attention to that you'll be improved a lot faster
keep it up man
LOOK GOOD NAKED? disgraceful. Anyway, obviously sketching initially with straight lines is good for constructing and everything but try and do your gestures and stuff with lots of flowing strokes. The blockiness shows especially with the female drawings. Keep it upppp
Thanks guys! Replies and scans tomorrow, I am in a rush now
Did this self portrait from life, I was about 3 hours into it when I realized it looked nothing at all like me. It would take longer to fix the mistakes than to start a new one so just leaving it at this
alexson: Thank you
Ryan: Thanks for the advice, I'll pay more attention to proportions
cifgha: Thanks, yeah I am doing that on the side but you're right i should do a lot more
Sam: haha, i know you have a collection too, I'll try to do that with my gestures. Thanks
Bunch of stuff
First some posemaniacs I do daily, here's this month's worth. Did 919 + All in pen so I can just focus on gestures and not mistakes
Hands in pen, these are much older. Around start of the month:
Older life in pen:
Older figure construction studies, then some figure construction from mind:
Life sketches whilst shopping and some of my sister:
I saw Samc do some of these and I decided to try them out. Looked at the photo, did a sketch from memory then went back and did a sketch whilst looking at the photo. Very helpful
Here's my entry from crimson dagger's golden boy. Even though I am girl haha. Anyways I started late because of holidays so it's more like 20 days worth of work but I told myself I would enter so here goes nothing.
Didn't have much of a set focus this month other than getting a good schedule of atleast 4 hours of studies a day.
Posemaniacs which I do daily, did like 919. I don't know how chronological these are:
Then 100 hand studies:
Applying - 100 hands from memory though I am still working on these
Then just a mixture of stuff in chronological order
Applying above from memory:
Really good stuff! you did alot this month! Wow!! its obvious u are taking this seriously I really like your hand-studies and your gestures, doing that many- u will improve so quickly! glad to see color and still life studies too! keep it up! 5x
Like the idea of going back and forth between memory and reference. I will steal it
Here's my sketchbook, please help me eat my veggies: link
Damn you are devoted, that is lot of hard work! I was hoping to come here and write a nice long critique or advice but reviewing the last couple of pages you seem to be speeding ahead awesomely, way better than I could've helped with.
It sure has been some time since you ran the teen challenge I entered and I don't think I've had the pleasure of dropping by here since.
Very nice linework with your pencils, I would definitely recommend retrying the self portrait - the "drawing" is fine, but you can definitely work more on the painting technique. Make sure to put down accurate background colours as they affect all the other colours as well.
I think the main problem with your last attempt and those still lives is the shadow terminators for planes rolling away from you aren't soft enough - your forehead and cheeks are round as that grapefruit and so the edges or terminators of the shadows should be much softer - reserve those hard edged shadows for cast shadows, like from the nose - something like this
Anyway, keep up all this hard work! Hoping to see some cool original stuff utilising all this soon
I agree, you are working very hard!! And it shows in your work..Keep it up.
All I an really offer is to work on your faces/heads, as they sometimes tend to look distorted or wonky.
Damn it, now I have to draw more. You're not making this easy for me you crazy mofo!
The amount of work you are doing, the quality, and the improvement is absolutely fucking inspiring. 5 stars for you! keep it up, you are well on your way. I BELIEVE!!!
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Impressive dedication. You even attack the hand studies which is something usually avoided by beginners . Good job.
My main crit is that you use way too many straight lines in your figure drawings. For example here it's very evident http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...2&d=1311851234. The arms almost look like they are drawn using ruler. Human body is all made out of flowing curves so it will look more natural if you draw it that way. Of course curves are much harder to control but the sooner you get used to them the better.
Keep it up.
Thank you guys! I really appreciate the support. It's very inspiring. I am in a hurry right now so replies will come tomorrow or after. I've tried to get back to everyone's sketchbook
Got my exam results today, 4 A's and a C. Would've loved to get straight but oh well, now I can just focus on art
WIP, 3 hours and a bit in:
Nice stuff, you're really making progress. Just watch those angles with your perspective stuff. Those angels should be bigger than 90 degrees (90 degrees is looking at things from straight above). Otherwise you get distortion (fish eye etc).
Keep on rocking.
Hey =) The Loomis figure looks great =) I'll do one of those tomorrow, they look really helpful =) Perspective looks fine to me.. imho.. =) Colours are looking nice too, the values are good on them imho and that's what counts anyway =) Well done on your exams too =) Have fun with your next studies =)
That's crazy Nibras, I adore your hard work. Thank You for inspiring not only me but so many people. I believe You'll reach your goals
