Wow, simply stunning artwork!!!
Wow, simply stunning artwork!!!
My super duper handy sketchbook! It's kinda cool.
Something I've been slowly working on for the past 2 days. Fanart for possibly the greatest thing I've ever read: Scott Pilgrim. Funny shit. Fo srs.
Lines done in micron on matte board & photoshop'd. I've been afraid to color anything for a while so to kick my ass out of that I'm trying to make everything as blinding and saturated as possible.
Good god I'm in such a slump right now.
just love some works especially the compositions
That last one has nice colors and you did a great job on the guys shirt, the details on his shirt do seem out of place, the texture makes it look like silk because its reflective... I think it is a little to over rendered for the type of paint you are going for, but it is excellently rendered if that makes sense...
but ya sketch studies look good, might want to look at the eyes though they are a little out perspective keep it up though and stop by sometime
Last post of past doodles before I head off to the motherland for a month and a half. Haven't been doing much do to a slump but I'm hoping russia will be kind enough to lend me some inspiration.
See you in the school year =A= *not looking forward to being a senior*
Oi but if anyone wants to reach me for any ridiculous reason feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I like pretending I have friends
Dana Connecticon is tomorrow and I ARE RONERY. D: D: Thou must defend me from zee nick.
DANA you lazy turd, you're back from Russkies now post!!!
Doodles and partially kind of not really finished works from the past two and a half months from my time in the motherland to the present.
Just looking back at the crap I've produced is really sucking me back into my selfloathingyou'llnevergetintocollegewiththatshit phase. =u=
Comments crits and anything helpful is welcome.
Ah, I've started figure drawing classes in NYC at SVA so I'll have some of those up after a few weeks. I've only been there for two sessions so far so the most we've done is 20 minutes *can't wait to get into watercolors*.
Note: some of these pictures are either scans of scans or scans of photos of scans and so on and so forth. Sorry for the crap quality D:
Nice stuff so far!
Ill say what I say to everyone because it also applies to me....
Please visit my SB to comment and critique and help me grow!
YAY POSTING I like the ominous Snape-like dude. Fat mer-lady and victorian kitty make me happy. DRAW ME STUFF.
Time well spent. I did nothing instead of doing homework for a class I am failing.
Bike and crumpled paper for RIZD, figure studies, and who knows what else!! eue One is actually a "map" thing for a petsite (not unlike neopets) I take commissions for. I feel a little degraded BUT I need muchas dollars for train tickets and such. So haw.
OH YAH. McCain cookies in Grand Central. I JUST HAD TO.
I'm in love with the blue cat lady from post #104!
Very nice coloring you have here!
PS : Maybe you should try to work your outlines. Try to don't make it simply black, but to use the color of the volume.
you have a cool style so much variation and there is so much to see
waiting for you....at: www.dreamchasergallery.com ...
Nice Work, man. Liking what I'm seeing.

Thanks for the nice comment in my sketchbook.
hmm, as far as advice about portfolio, I can say the best thing would be to attend national portfolio day and talk to a RISD representative face to face. (check the website for dates near your area). As a veteran of national portfolio days, I can tell you the line for RISD will be about 1 or more hours long X_x. It's good to also go to a bunch of schools that you might not be applying to, but have small lines, and get as much feedback as possible, and then only wait in one or two long lines. (I got some of the best advice from the SMFA folks). Also, I cheated and had my mom wait in the RISD line while I visited other schools.
As for general portfolio tips: they like to see lots of observational work and things drawn from life. Too much in one set "style" can be harmful sometimes. They want to see variety between personal/creative work and foundation/observational stuff. It's a tricky balance. Good luck!
ps. If you are on facebook, check out the group Lucy's Risd Admissions 101. It's very helpful
Wisteria - Thanks for the info! It seems that every time I try to go to one of them fancy portfolio reviews my grandmother breaks her hip or some crisis occurs that prevents me from going TT___TT;;
BUT I SHALL NOT GIVE UP HOPE.
NEW LINEART! Shitty quality - scan of a scan because I fail at life.
You wanna know something funny? This is the simplified version of what I originally sketched xD;
