Okay. So, my ultimate plan for this image is that the giant floating balloons will be decorated to resemble glass lanterns, only instead of glass, they'll be made out of sheet metal. There will also be windows, girders, etc., but before I get to all that, I want to make sure that the balloons themselves look metallic.
The balloons in the background represent my first attempt at making them shiny and metallic. Clearly, they were not a success. For my second attempt, the big red balloon in the foreground, I remembered that I had a set of ball magnets buried on my desk, which I used as reference for painting it.
That said, I know that something's lacking in my rendering; I'm so inexperienced at painting metal, however, that I can't place it. Any advice on that, or on anything else you notice in general, would be much appreciated.
