I post a lot of unfinished work here in the critique section. I figure I should start a sketchbook at this point. In short, I need a lot of help with anatomy and composition. Those are my biggest problems. I need an extra set of eyes to catch the glaring mistakes I can't seem to pinpoint.
I was a college art major at one point (still attending, but in another field). My work consisted mostly of traditional paintings (oil, acrylic) and still life subjects. I'm still keeping art on the side, but I do not plan to make a career in it. Unfortunately, I don't have the drive anymore.
That doesn't change the fact that I want to improve. A lot. For the sake of craft at least.
First post: An anatomy practice piece. I didn't finish it. I couldn't bring myself to (... busy).
She's missing a set fingers and an ear, of course.
I used a reference by another artist, which I thought was pretty accurate, here:
... along with a grid to aid symmetry. But I can still see some things are very off.
What are my biggest issues? Is there even anything positive about this piece that I can work with? Be as honest as possible, with constructive criticism. Thank you.
