This was for another EOW activity, "winged fortress" but I have missed the deadline. Still want to finish this up, so I’d love some feedback!
I really like EOW picture. When you've rendered the figure it might give a better idea of where you're going. The turnip might need a slight push in terms of value.
I've already said on twitter about the armour- choose either shiny or dull, but you could engrave it as well to mix it up.
Thanks for the comment! I spent some more time on this, hopefully it's starting to head in a better direction. I did add some engraving, I think I'll probably add some more and/or tweak the shapes a bit. Don't want it looking boring.
Been spending more and more time in Paint Tool SAI, as well, and less time in Photoshop. As I am getting more used to the way things work in SAI, I am coming to like the way the tools work a lot more.
Sorry, but I'm not sure about the structure of her face. Her eyes aren't lined up to her nose and mouth.
Congrats on the news. Exciting times.
Thank you! As for the problems with the painting above... I think I see what you mean, I think it's all about the eye on the right. The perspective seems to make more sense if you cover that up, that eye is too "straight on" I think.
Here's a study I did last night based on one of Nerahla's photos, since they're awesome. About 2-3 hours in Paint Tool SAI.
The main problem with using photos is sorting out the perspective that it distorts to make a picture that doesn't look like it was ref'd from a photo.
The lighting is a bit flattening on the oil painting. Maybe making the shadows a bit more dramatic would help flesh her out. Also don't be afraid of giving her skin different colours.
