wow you get a hell of a lot done. keep posting
Hey Porg! I'm loving those sketches, so much practice, and so fun to look at!
if there's one thing i could point out quite easily, it's that you tend to make heads disproportionally big compared to the body, I'd say to watch out for that ^^
other then that, Keep doing what you're doing, and I'll be back
Hey Porg, awesome sketchbook pages! I love the sheer density and energy in these pages. It feels like a stream of consciousness being poured onto the page The pure black and white and the bits of painted pages are my favorites. You seem to blend in your cartoony style with the realistic studies. I'm not sure if it's intentional, if not then maybe watch out for the underlying structure of the figures a bit ie. the skull underneath the faces. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my SB by the way
I like the variety of subjects especially in the early pages. I would say if you're interested in doing concept design, maybe try some costume stuff from different periods, non-human creatures, or architecture. The anatomy stuff and vehicle design are a great start though.
Haaaaa, totally crrrrazy experimentation going on here!
Ideas, fun, dynamics, attitudes, expressions...
you NEED to train anatomy!
Anatomy hinders your jumping even higher.
Thread subscribed and I will come back haunting you!
Leo Ki: Thanks mate, just getting ideas down mainly but yeah, I need to improve on my anatomy. It's a bit random but working on it.
Wilkerson: Cheers, will try some costumes and stuff as most of my characters are naked.
zhonked: I was pretty much brought up on Manga so the influence is there definetly. Dunno if it's a hinderence or a help but I suppose that's the way your style develops.
petitemistress: Yeah, I think the head problem comes from all these Super Deformed Manga characters I keep drawing. Cheers though, will keep working on my proportions.
I think you are correct that your influences simply direct your style. It's not helpful nor a hindrance as long as you do stuff that makes you happy Nice new set of pages man! The dog drawings are really nice and I especially like the figure on the bottom right corner of the first page. The torso is really solid
zhonked: Cheers man. I really appreciate your comments.
Yeah, I love dogs and this was for a friend who wants to do a dog-based repeating pattern on clothing. Be interesting to see how it turns out.
Just thought I'd post pages from a book I take out and about with me, just practicing drawing people more than anything.
like wat you do and a lot of attempt to achieve it too..
i suppose you must do some cool wall graphitti stuff..actual ones and post them here.. your style fits well with it...
why dont you just grab some more 'anatomy' burger and 'construction' coke .
Its gonna make your work look more awesome...
great attempt..and that means i will be looking into your sketchbook very often..so go on posting...
ive got a sketchbook .
got some indian Gods and Godesses and a coupla character explorations.
Feel free to walk in and shout loud..
There is but one short cut to success...apparently its called Hardwork.
The Great Indian Mythology Character Design Trick - ( please do leave your comments on this sketchbook) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=142727
Hey Porg, it's good to see a new post! These pages are bad ass! There's so much energy and imagination flowing through them. It feels like I can follow you through your days with them. A visual diary of your emotions, so cool The box headed skeleton and the open mouthed orc guy are my favorites. Those fish are pretty kick ass too Demon baby push ups? Where do you get this stuff?! Dog patterned clothing sounds interesting. Like an MC Escher pattern maybe? Keep posting!!
Thanks again zhonked, it's weird what you draw from day to day. It's amazing where ideas come from.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the dog pattern too, she's really busy at the moment sewing, knitting and so on so I think it'll be some time before we see the results. Will post it up when we do though.
animosapien: Cheers! I'm not much into graffiti but I've done a few pieces if you look around on my website. I've obviously been influenced though as you can see it in my work, funny that.
Will have a trawl though your sketchbook though, cheers for the invite.
Just a couple of boards I've finished for this Hardtek night this weekend. Hope it should go well. Will probably have to touch them up soonish though seeing as the previous ones are looking pretty battered already. Munters eh!
The spiral design is for a friend releasing a CD of his music, which can be found here.
He's playing this weekend so it should be a stormer!
bin a long time since ive been here
im liking the updates, the porn makes me laugh
theres one page on wich uve draw faces with as least possible lines, i liked that, wanne see more of such!
keep hitting the anatomy man, your getting there
Nice update Porg How are you approaching the figures? Are you doing them from a model, still ref, imagination? If you think you are having issues with the structure, maybe trying a constructive approach will help. Building things out of cubes and cylinders, etc. Studying very specific anatomy photos/drawings might be a bit boring and time consuming, but it really will help you a lot too if that's what you're looking to improve on Just gotta put the mileage in Keep em coming man!
wahaha you keep dropping this full pages i love it!!!
and sometimes u use colors sometimes
u cut things out and paste it on top of something. just lovely, MORE!
Nice work in here, Porg.
Loads of sketches, nice to see people filling the page until nothing fits anymore. I like your black/white inked stuff: tight, and no fear of shadows.
As for the anatomy issues; you don't need the advice to keep practicing.
As for drawing the female form. Try drawing females less muscular; more smooth lines between muscle groups so they can no longer be distinguished.
Use more continuous curves, instead of blocked out areas indicating different muscles. Women have more fat in their skins, hiding their muscles.
Easier said than done, however.
Grafguy: Cheers man. Yeah, getting there with the anatomy.
With the simple faces I just sit in front of a film and try and sketch what I can. I found it good practice, like sketching from really, moving life.
zhonked: Thanks. The more detailed figures I'm just doing from interesting photographs, but with all this photoshopping nowadays you can't really tell real from fake. Will give the simple structures a go, thanks.
`ej: I really don't think I use enough colour, glad you like it. I feel it's good to try and keep everything you draw, even if it's on a scrap of paper.
Harmageddon: Thanks for the advice on females. I think it's this trap of making sure I've got all the muscles in that makes them so 'bulky'. Will try and tone them down a bit, need some life drawing classes I guess.
I'm currently working on anohter record label logo but this time a little more risky. The guy wants speaker drivers and vaginas due to the label's name.
Apologies if offensive but to be honest it's nothing in comparison to everything else I see on this site.
them some nice new sketch pages porg, is that your gener8r wristband on the page 2 posts up? what a stonker eh.
whats really nice to see are those little sketches of people dragging luggage/ sitting on a bench etc. you'll learn alot more general drawing skills from doing loads of those kinds of sketches than just working from photos.
il admit you wont find naked people walking down the street though so for pure anatomy nothing beats life drawing class.
im liking mattykores logo too, i thought it might be for him when you posted the inital sketches on the last page.
so yeh sweet stuff, il be checking back.
Yes Littleman, Gener8r definetly knocked a couple of db off my hearing range I can tell you, and yes that's the wristband from the night. Always good to keep fond memories I find. Will try to keep up the life drawing, I just seem to sped the majority of my time in front of a monitor though.
Meissner: Thanks, they went down well at the night too. Just hope they keep hold of them that's all.
More work for the record label. Had to rework the right one into the left one due to the direction of the speakers. Plus a bit of practise with colouring too.
Merry xmas and all that. Haven't been on here in a while, just been coming down with Man Flu which has been shit. Other than that just thought I'd post a few more random sketchbook pages.

Thanks Retarded Monkey [nice name]. It is really difficult to judge your own work when there's such amazing talent on here.
Just completed another flyer for another Hard Sessions night for Valentines Day / Night. The theme is a Valentine's Massacre, the first illustration was said to be too busy, so had to cut it down to just two characters eating the heart.
Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I really enjoyed looking through your work. Great style. Keep it up
A few sketches for the previous flyer and ones for this tattoo design below. Had to have a fair few goes at it due to the person being indecisive. Turns out he was only prepared to pay about £20 >.
Always work out their budget before starting work.
