    The puppeteer

    interpret as you wish.

    out of suggestion thread.
i tried to please Oregano and bring more character into CHOW but there were no descriptions for deeper, more evolved characters.
I went then for the puppeteer (suggested by Alejjo) as the subject can allow us to fill in A LOT of character - in the puppeteer of the puppet.

And to make it even more spicy - since there wasnt much of a fresh request lately - the character should be recognised by the outline - or the shadow if you prefere.
SO.. draw your character in full detail - AND make sure that his overall shape has enough charactrer to make it stand out.
Please post a separate image of the outline/shadow of your character - THOSE IMAGES will be taken to the poll as thumbnails.
The quality of the render still stays as a criteria.

    _____________

    1. recognisable outline - separate image
    2. define character
    3. include puppet.

what a twist in my round - we should all bow to andre who came - threw at us a sketch and won. much respekt.
i was just about to not take his piece to the poll - no border, no sillo. - then again - the following piece- Trevor - doesn;t have the sillo in a separate file either... life is hard for me.

    Puppeteer and puppet
Money is the string which binds the puppet to its puppeteer, the puppeteer uses the magical unbeatable power of money and puppet is acting according to the will of puppeteer. It’s up to puppeteer how bad (evil), or good the situation he/she creates.

Voodoo magic is the way my character manipulates the world around him. He summons evil spirits to do his bidding.

    FINAL:
    CHOW #76 - VOTING - The puppeteer
The Puppeteer comes from the island of Jamaica. He practices voodoo as a religion. People from all over the land come to him with problems. With his voodoo magic, he helps clients solve their various problems. Be it a cheating wife, or a disgruntled boss, the puppeteer can manipulate his victims using black magic. All he needs is a personal belonging of the person he is trying to control. He burns the article onto a puppet, leaving a residue on the doll. This procedure magically gives a soul to the doll, enabling it to be manipulated. He then procedes to do what the client asks him to do. The doll's soul is directly connected to the victim's soul, therefore, whatever happens to the puppet, affects the actual person.

    I'm in... good subject!

have been busy all week but managed some time today... Sunday of course as always. I really like Norman Rockwells Puppeteer painting so have done a similar design but with a pinocchio twist. Pretty simple as I'm not sure If I'll have much time to do this.

    Red face in

hello all, im in, terribly out of time, god...going on a trip on wednesday, so this have to be quick... can someone explain me in a little easier way about the outline or shadow for character recognition, please, my english is not very good, thanks...

well, this is my first post on the round and my last, icant do more,... this blind puppeteer is not bad it looks, his creepy look scares everyone, he is puppeteer of the swamps monsters, part of himself, the green and the red. is indeed a very bizarre concept, and for some reason, maybe an artistic personal reason, i enjoyed alot making this character, so i really hope you like it,,,,cheers everyone, great work by now....

    indeed!
The puppeteer, the english equivalent for the Hopi ledgend of the transformed spirit of an evil shaman. Through ancient rights, incantations, sand drawings and even things similar to "Voodoo dolls" the diablero summons forth Powers from beyond our world to transform and carry his spirit into a whispy cloud In this form the sorcerer seeks out his victim, pulling from the warrior the Iluminent threats which are weaved through us all, with these in hand the sorcerer can control his victim's body. Although the poor puppet retains his mind and thoughts, he can no longer control his body, and sometimes is forced to do unspeakable acts for the Diablero such as murder, or worse. Although invisible to the naked eye, other adept shamans who can see into the neether world and perceive such deamons, and if in time, ward off these evil spirits. All too often though the Diablero goes unchecked....

I'm in... but wow... I gotta say all the topics have been dark since I started doing ChOWs... I'm kinda tired of the scheme of the last like 4-5 ChOWs. I'm not saying lets draw bunnies and birdies... but can we do something Military, Sci-Fi, or Fantasy sometime soon? just a thought... now that I'm done bitching I'll get to work.

Why can we only post 1 Wip? linked images aren't saved to the CA.org Server!? kinda sounds odd.

Wow I got kicked outta ChOW75 cool beans... anyways... since I'm no longer allowed to show my thumbs freely anymore... here are some links:

My thoughts are surrounding a female puppeteer that manipulates men with her powers... innocent look with cruel intentions... just thumbs no need to crit.

    Avenging Geisha Puppeteer Ronin

Traveling from coast to coast, Geisha Puppeteer seeks the brutal murderers of her husband so she can slay them all with her fantastic samurai puppet Toshiro. In the meantime, to earn funds for her grave mission, she performs puppet acts in various country fairs to the delight and amusement of impressionable little children. After her day job she hires herself and her weapon to various warlords who require a yojimbo or an assassin.

She manipulates her puppet Toshiro by using a musical instrument that is connected to a back harnessed, tension controlled bamboo and archery bow rig.

Silhouette and wip composite follows final version. Larger res here. Domo!

I read puppeteer and silhouette and immediately thought Thai shadow puppets, but I´m afraid my technical skills aren´t going to be up to my genius idea. I wanted the cast shadow to create a dragon or lion mouth, with lots of pointy teeth, the figure toward the bottom of the page with one of his puppets. Sort of an evil Fu Manchu 1930´s movie poster thing. But, since working on a laptop isn´t giving results, I´ll have to do this by hand in black and white.

    CHOW #76 - VOTING - The puppeteer

Bought a scanner at least. You can see the puppet more than the puppeteer, but I´ll try to do better in the future. Final

Going with an Asian theme. I've been looking for an excuse to paint something with a dragon or a Shi for awhile, and something about Lukavi's CHOW 75 entry inspired me with the layout, so here goes.

I promised myself I was going to simplify the lighting this go `round, but I'm actually gonna have 6 points of light ... geesh!

    My silo:

    My finish:

The witch Guan Yin and her Shi (Fu Lion Dogs) have spent countless days silently guarding the temple. With the head monk away, a romp through the countryside is rare treat she could not resist.

I may never win one of these suckers, but I think I got the first one done this time! ;-)

I started with pencils and graphite and this time I did some light inking. I may not finish a color version of this by Sunday (traveling again), but who nose.

lukavi - sweet new avatar. terrifying raisin mouse...

JOHNGRELLO - the topics have been dark but that doesn't mean you need to treat your piece with doom/gloom. Why not a rockin sci fi/technology spin on the puppeteer? I think I'm going to do a wizard with a puppet controlled battle golem, sort of a fantasy avatar/mech construction. So, when chow gives you lemons, make lemonade? Your process last round was excellent by the way. I really dig your color choices in your thumbnails.

whoops, cheers Alejjo! you beat me to the pep talk. Rats!

Well here is my humble entry- wasn't too happy with the final but at least I got it done before the big party tomorrow (fathers day)

After an accident Zorg Slapdarg was left with serverly limited movement. Plugged into his "Weehchair" he had a puppet like mobility which leaves one wondering is he the puppet or puppeteer

    Name: Zorg Slapdarg
    Likes: Kittens and pornographic.
    Dislikes. Insincere people.

    Love and Puppets

Guess I'm in this time, though as usual I have too little time. Pretty much just lunch times during the workday.

You can see the WIPs at my sketchbook post: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...6&postcount=97

Joe12South: Thanks for the crits. I''ve added the other leg. I think you're right that the poses are too static. I think mainly it's the guy - the woman has at least a little bit of twist in her posture. I also just noticed that there is no weight on the guy's feet. Wish I could float like that.

    ---

Long ago the master puppeteer crafted his two greatest pieces, a man and a woman. Virtually indistinguishable from life, they nevertheless lay inert on the bench. Nearing despair, the master finally looked up, his eyes wide. He set to work, instilling in them the one thing they were missing - love. Or, more precisely, love for one another. Now, as long as they embrace, they live. The master puppeteer has been gone for centuries, and their arms barely register the fatigue at all.

Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.

Scott's Sketchbook: Check out my sketchbook. Will swap C&Cs.
