Had to fix my images right quick.
I just looked over at some of the updates here and it seems to be moving nicely. I really enjoy the process some of you are taking. I wish I could have seen some of evildisco's thumbs/ideation. That rendering tech is nice. very clean. I also like timothees line work. Phuzion, have mercy you have skillz. Trevor i'm glad you did the close up, we could all learn alot from you. I see I have much work to do. Look for WIP update tommorrow.

A little pencil work. I think I may add a hood of some sort. I'm worried about the hands as well. Any crits would be nice, thanks!

Well here is the inked in version of my druid. I added a hood and tried to fix the hands and other things as critiqued. I really appreciate all the crits by everyone to everyone. It helps because when you stare at things for too long others may see things that you don't. I really wish I had more time this week to color this guy. Maybe next week. I need to spend less time sketching and more time in PS. Thanks again!

Whew! I'm glad I didn't go with my Druid/Bear idea...
    Trevor! Lookin' badass!
Evildisco! I had no idea you could rock it like that man!

Got some time last night to sketch a little picture... just ideation right now,
getting a feeling for the design, or more for the mood I guess, hopefully I can
get more done today... we'll see.

    The drawing:
I'm probably still going to keep her design from the sketch above, but I'll add some
of the details back in when I paint her up...

    Previous step:

Current progress: Okay, I'm calling this done for now. I wish I had a
little more time, but life and school have now intervened. But man did I have
a good time with this one. As you can see I had to make a lot of adjustments.
The wolf was too cartoony for me, so that got changed and another one was
added. And the background was given lots of love and then some nice post-
production to tie everything together a little better than a turniket...

    Final detail:

    Cheers!

And so it was, the skyclad maiden had done her duty for the goddess, her sacrifice alone allowed the protection and the forthcoming of Spring. The celebration of Waking light would soon be at hand. The dormant earth cold over the winter months would begin to stir with life and she would be free from her icy bonds. The Ice Druid is a voluntary position... one not to be taken lightly. Many a month she afforded the earth its rest, now it would awaken anew and she would be replaced by the flower maiden warming the earth, and welcoming the Goddess renewed…. Blessed Be

    Place held.

Dragon it's from Big Trouble in Little China, fun movie.

    My WIP.

    General Winter

In russian folklore, the attribute of winter is personified in the figure of General Winter.
During the Napoleonic Wars, French soldiers recounted of a strange old man being followed
by a pack of fox pups in the middle of blizzards. Similar accounts have surfaced during
operation Barbarossa by German soldiers. Wherever he goes, winter follows and freezes everything to a halt.

As a noobie to Chow...it was a real challenge for me to do something from imagination, I have been painting from life and photos for a long time now and I know my skills in this genre of conceptual art fall way, way short.
I'm going to leave it here as it is driving me to despair.....when I see works like Trevors and Phuzion, I know I'm just wasting my time!!

So I'm trying to decide which to enter, if any at all...here are the 2.

Finished for now. The background is too rough but the characters are done enough. It's a tall one, darn ghost stag!

edit: Here's what I'm cooking up: just your average run-of-the-mill ice druid that hangs out with ghost elk and albino squirrels and stuff.

    Detail:

I'm not set on the druid's hair being dark, but it contrasts well against the elk behind her.

Time depending I may tone down the background some. I'm also thinking of scrapping the ghost elk for some kind of arch or gateway. Maybe a stone pillar behind her and a more toned down ghost elk... or a giant ice elk! hah! I need to soften my background colors too, right now it's too saturated. Any other advice from the crowd?

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya started painting your CHoW, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya started painting your CHoW, Jack?" "Yessir, the WIP is in the mail."

I have to chime in on this one, what is this burning flame thread?!? Sounds like a special street fighter move, will kill you in 1 hit. Just kidding, love you, Oblio. But yeah, I'm guessing it will make 'polling' easier. He won't have to duplicate this thread and clean up so to speak. That is if everyone does their part and re-post their final in the burning fires thread.

Regarding the silhouette requirement, seeing as a lot of folks did not produce one last round and still made it to the polls (not complaning, in fact I don't care and voted for those peeps anyway). It just seems like an unnecessary requirement?

Cheers and cool topic. Trevor, evildisco, woodland, alejjo, fouryoko, markmaloen and creativesmugbug, great start!

    hiii guyssss

im in again, ill try something different like a female character,

phuzion i love the expression, but i agree with alejjo, about the warrior looking, nice anyway

trevor i love it, really love it, i only think i would be more amazing trying a passive status on the beard, but great anyway...

im very sorry about my lack of comments, but this time i couldnt play close, im totally running with time, ... well, is sad that i will not be able to perform any fixing to my piece from critics... here my ice druid, as i said before i wanted to do something female and beautiful, she is a druid for a faction at the mountains, very knowed as the healer and the ice spirits summoner. i hope you like it... please crit anyway...

I don't know if I'll participate on this one, but I'd figure I'd at least put a page marker.

Trevor: I like where you're headed. Anything that involves polar bears is a-ok in my book...... unless it's a Coca-Cola commercial. Damn bears and their soda.....

    Hi new to this

    Hello all,

    wonderful work here.

just wanted to try since I wish to become a concept artist one day.

    here's my entry, so far...

okay, well, I'd like to comment, but everyone has said alot. So I'll comment once I get more free time to.. for now an update

Okay, I'm gonna change the pose to be more dynamic... I think mine is waaay too static to even compete.

Sorry, I will comment/ crit once I finish.
