Speed painting - Definition?!
Hey guys, I'm a bit confused about the term "speed painting".
I've always assumed it meant a painting that has been created fairly quickly, for example under an hour and a half or so.
Then I found this definition on wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_painting
That definition doesn't seem quite right to me. I know wiki is a 'quantum dictionary" at best in terms of accuracy, but I'd love some clarification.

typically when a person says speed painting, I believe they mean a painting done in a very short period of time (also sometimes called a speedy, a paint sketch, or study). I call bullshit on that wiki definition

The article was created and edited (mostly) by a single person.
The only other edits have been for grammar and tags.
It's likely that the original creator is simply confused as to its definition.
Someone should take it upon themselves to edit it properly.
Speed painting is just that, painting fast.
It differs from alla prima, in that alla prima isn't necessarily fast.
Though it is painted "all at once", that can take all day.
Alla prima usually refers to a process where it is painted in a single coat... no drying.

Yeah, I always assumed that Alla Prima meant "All paint", as in, no drawings/previous sketching etc.
I have seen people show a timelapse of a 12 hour painting and still call it "Speedpainting", but then again, that's youtube for you. =(
I just read the article.
Holy bullshit. Wow. If you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, don't make a fucking wikipedia article about it. "The best speed painter of all time is Nico di Mattia"? What the fuck? Prick much?

The definition is pretty spot on in my opinion.
It's SPEED PAINTING, or painting fast, or quick painting, ...
How much more complicated does everyone need to make it?
