Holy shite dude! Man you just keep getting better and better.
Those are all freaking awesome man - the pirate composition is interesting and intricate, and the spaceship are all really well designed with some interesting and surprising elements to add visual spice.
Thanks for sharing, I'm off to paint haha.
    cheers!

Nicolas, you crazy mofo! I was just thinking yesterday how long it's been since I've seen anything new from you, and then you post this eye candy today... sheesh.

My only crit - Some of the suckers on the tentacles underneath the water aren't curving around the form like they could, making some areas seem a bit flat. But overall, it still looks ace!

Viag my friend you were definitely missed on this board ! Great to see fresh meat from you.
I think the guys at Wizkids were clever to come at you with a wicked Pirates theme. Inspirational piece.

take care and give a hug to the SB crew.

can realy feel the volume of the water in the pirate ship piece,
for me the treasure chest is severly messing with the scale of the ships, but hey its still very well done.

    cheers

just amazing works! the rich textures and rendering is beautiful. the color of the water (in the pirate piece) adds so much atmosphere and mood.

i do agree about the scale of the chest. maybe the tentacle in the foreground (near the chest) should be dramatically larger than the ones near the ships.

    gorgeous tho!

    Totally amazing, but...

Hey I love this work.. Still, it reminded me of something I wanted to bring up recently...

I know that anyone, including myself, who has ever tried to design/draw a massive spacecraft, or futuristic vessel.. Has probably put gigantic numbers on it.. Numbers so massive it would be absurd to even have them exist at all.. lol

Think about this.. A lot of these vessel numbers and ID's look like Stencil work right.. How insanely massive would the stencil be.. several thousand feet X several hundred feet lol .. Jesus, you would think that in such advanced time eyesight would improve and people would not need such large numbers/letters to ID vessels.. or that they just sent a signal Identifying themselves.. readable to all in the area

    just a thought,
I need to start doing that myself

    nice work!

    TS

industrial design isn't going to change much. there will always be a need for that sort of thing, imagine a guy with a clipboard going down a checklist witha row of these ships in front of him. to do his job fast he's gonna need a quick easily read reference.
but for the high class/personal ships, yah, they wouldn't have a bunch of identificaction lettering on them. it wouldn't be needed.

besides.. it adds visual interest. imagine these ships without the type. they'd be kinda boring if you ask me. its the little details that sell it for me.

great stuff! those spaceships look sweet! my only gripe is that theres no real sense of scale in them, they could be really big or small... windows are always an easy way to define scale!

    keep it up, cheers!
