    TRP's Sketchbook, now or never!

Now or never. If I don't take the leap into this sketchbook thing I may procrastinate for ever.
Don't expect to much most of what I have are sketches rarely more that ten or fifteen minutes work.
But then again what else would you expect in a sketchbook. Suggestions welcome.

    Now I am obligated

O.K. to start, the bear above was done from a reference. I don't trace, but I
did do my best to copy the look of the bear while adding my own touches.

Damn I could shoot myself, now I feel obligated to post...

Oh well here are some doodles, some faces of the people I have seen while at my favorite restaurant, and me shooting myself.

I hope thats not too much.

i think you're really taking great initiative by using photo refs for some works.
I also like that you've got some twisted thoughts goin on there...usually that results in better artists.

and as for suggestions, i feel that you view your drawings as 2 dimentional. when you draw your subject try visualizing your subject in 3 dimentions. draw an underdrawing of a very simple 3d shape (something resembling what it is oyu're drawing. that sort of forces you to see it the way it is in real life

also LIFE DRAWING was my saviour in anatomy. if you get a chance ..do not miss it.

    Obligations Obligations.

Zombi: Thank you; yes of course now I'm obligated
Ped: Yes it is hard to get those 3d shapes onto a 2d paper. thanks for the suggestions.

Now for some more sketches. Some doodles while watching a gymnastics class.
I am working on being fast and good memory as they don't slow down.

And a few more faces from my favorite drawing restaurant.
Oh, the two kids on the same scan the one on the right she did
look like a doll. Her parents had her all dressed up like a little doll.
May have been an only child, poor kid.

    Suggestions welcome.

Ah, I guess I will have to rename the files if I want them to show in
a different order. Oh well next post.

    The path not taken.

I have been watching the weekly challenges and love the idea of a new topic every week.
Before posting my first, I tried out a few without posting them.
I did not finish or post them to the challenge but then why let my ideas go to waste.
    Here are my ideas for
3ch#32: An enraged fork bites a soviet aquanaut in the garden.
3ch#34: A paranoid grimalkin sneaks by a fedora deep in the forest.
( my witch's name would have been fedora)
    Eow#55: After the battle.

    suggestions welcome

That last girl in the gymnastics set and the scuba girl look great

Keep drawing from life!!! Also, try doing a full-fledged still life or two -- great practice for rendering, values, etc.

Keep posting (Great bein' obligated, ain't it )
    Look, see! Nifty art! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99803

Some old just to keep up.

Before I started I thought it would be so simple just update.
But, finding the time is strangely difficult. Here are some old
sketches that I had previously scanned. I will post newer ones
    later.

1 and 2 are just some very old doodles.
3 and 4 are an alien landscape 3 my sketch, 4 after some digital work.
5,6,7 tinkerbell, anime girl w/necklace, grim reaper.
8 someone asked me to draw something for their friend Storm who liked bikes.
    9 a still life plant
10 still life? she was asleep. Bad likeness but I like the sketch.
11,12 13 from reference, alien, some more doodles (cat).

    Some new stuff

    OK some new stuff.
First some thoughts on a chow I didn't enter or come anywhere near finished,
Second sketch ref. from a magazine cover tried to do digitaly,
Third a sketch of an interesting outdoor seating area.
    Forth some trees nearby,
and last a scenic view from my mind.

    crits welcome.

Update: some sketches of random reference material

It is hard to keep up with this sketchbook stuff but I will keep trying.
These are just some sketches, freehand copies while looking at my reference.
Some of these images you might recognize, posters or coupons or money and some from a magazine.
