    Magma Self-portraits

Hi guys! These self-portraits were done for a class, the assignment was a diptic opposite. So I went with the less obvious "rich vs. poor." Hope you like them!

Thanks tigerazzo! I relinked the images gringoloco, but I've been having troubles with pics not showing up all day. I link from deviantart.com and blogspot.com. What do you guys usually do to load your pics?

I use Imageshack.us but anything over 1.5mb wont load because it will be too big for it. Stunning focus on the lights and shading, it seems a bit cartoony if that was your intention (on the first at least) its a stunner, keep up the good work mate.

    Daily Self-Portrait (Speedy)

I thought I'd try to do a self-portrait everyday, so here is the first one, a quick sketch, maybe 20 mins or so.

Here's #2, worked kind of lazily on this one, so I'd estimate it took around 30-35 minutes.

The new post is excellent work! Good composition, well thought out, well drawn. The only suggestions I would make for future efforts are to always consider and express the form beneath the clothing. As you draw feel the volume, for example in the lower arm, choose the folds that express the form. In rep drawing we are always seeking to express form in space. Eyes are difficult and many artists begin by lightly drawing the whole "ball" in the socket and then drawing the lids. As I remember, Bridgman has some good pages on drawing eyes. Sargent suggested finding the structure of the socket first, and then plopping the eye in like an egg in a cup.

Maxine Schacker, thanks for the critique! It's nice to get criticism that actually is constructive. I'd realized the left eye of the "white collar" guy is ridiculously exaggerated, unfortunately not till after I had turned in the project!

Here is #3, keep in mind I don't use a mirror or photo ref for these. I'm just sitting at my computer at work, throwing these out as fast as I can. Todays was about 20-25 minutes.
